    THINK ABOUT THIS:

#JFK went to the UN to present photographic evidence that Russia was trying to embed nuclear missiles in Cuba.

The leaders of France & the UK told him they didn't need to see the photos because they trusted him & The United States.

That trust was destroyed when #Dubya invaded #Iraq over imaginary #WMD's, and has only grown worse under #DisasterDon (buddies with Putin, Kim and Erdogan and has threatened the #NATO alliance.)

Daily writing prompt If you could erase one event from history, what would it be? View all responses

One of the first answers today was to erase the events that happened to my parents on February 6 1958, my birth. That didn’t last very long though, a blink in the eye of time, because let’s face it, I enjoy being here most of the time.

Maybe I would go with the assassination of John F. Kennedy. I have often wondered what history would look like if he hadn’t been shot. I have a strong dislike for the events following his death and believe LBJ screwed the pooch as well as America.

I’m keeping these answers in my lifeline so the third choice would probably be the internet. Even though it has been useful and helped the world in many ways I think it has accelerated the downfall of society. I mean yeah, I can find out what Kim Lee made for supper in Shanghai last night or what Peppy Morgan dislikes about blood pudding but is this trade off worth what I am doing in my life right now?

Damn Skippy it is, which brings me to why I am writing this post.

Welcome to another update of my journey with AI.

Good morning. I wasn’t planning on doing the daily prompt but plans are like the wind, changing on a moments notice. Yesterday found me laying tracks down all day. I recorded one song repeatedly filling up one side of a reel 2 1/2 times, (about 85 minutes per side or roughly 70 takes) and still am at the starting line with it. It is 3:04 long and after seven hours the day was finished with two takes I liked enough to transfer to my DAW today and see if I can keep any parts of them in editing.

Editing is nothing like when I did my books, way more technical and challenging to me. The two takes I kept might leave me with less than 1 minute of the track I can use for the final outcome.. I am feeling more comfortable with singing and even have been finding my groove so to speak. The problem? keeping my vocals in the same pitch or range. I tend to change octaves quite often and although less than before I still get out of tune easily. 😁

The good news, I am feeling relaxed in knowing I’m finding my range in vocals as well as the distance I need to be from the mic so as not to overpower the music or be so far away as it sounds like I’m not in the same room as the music. I’ve also found that breaks are needed throughout the day. If I don’t take a break my vocal chords start feeling scratchy and I don’t want to over do it. So it goes that 1 – this is way more complicated than I thought it would be and 2 – the rain is both tears of joy and regret as I step into the void and try to fulfill my goal.

Happy Wednesday to you all and may the sounds of success fill your world with fuzzy thoughts as I try to learn my DAW this morning before jumping back into the rhythm of practice makes…more practice.

  3. A quotation from John Kennedy

But I think the American people expect more from us than cries of indignation and attack. The times are too grave, the challenge too urgent, and the stakes too high — to permit the customary passions of political debate. We are not here to curse the darkness, but to light the candle that can guide us through that darkness to a safe and sane future.

  5. A quotation from John Kennedy

That is the question of the New Frontier. That is the choice our nation must make — a choice that lies not merely between two men or two parties, but between the public interest and private comfort — between national greatness and national decline — between the fresh air of progress and the stale, dank atmosphere of “normalcy” — between determined dedication and creeping mediocrity.
All mankind waits upon our decision. A whole world looks to see what we will do. We cannot fail their trust, we cannot fail to try.

"Game, scam, cult: The many faces of QAnon

    (. . .)

Yet as gratifying as it might be to discover how QAnon corroborates an account of conspiracy theorizing rooted in the analysis of very different historical material, every repetition of a historical pattern also varies it in ways that force us to rethink our interpretations. One way in which this pressure to revise and reconsider an interpretation becomes obvious is to examine more closely the so-called 'research' that Q encouraged. To what degree was this exclusively online research equivalent to old-fashioned detective work, or even to the amateur detective work undertaken by earlier communities of conspiracy theorists such as those determined to expose the 'true' story of Kennedy’s assassination? The comparison reveals the very different nature of the 'research' in which Anons became absorbed. The amateur sleuths devoted to cracking the case of the Kennedy assassination were investigating a past (and very real) event. By contrast, the crimes whose depravity allowed Q and the army of Anons to indulge in ecstasies of righteous indignation were imagined to be ongoing and continuous; indeed, the Anons saw themselves not only as researchers but also as recruits to a virtuous counterconspiracy that, under Trump’s leadership, would thwart the blood-curdling conspiracy helmed by an all too familiar cast of Democrat or Democrat-aligned villains: the Clintons, Obama, George Soros, and so on.

Thus, if in the case of the Kennedy assassination there was indisputable evidence of a crime while speculation circled around the identity of the criminals, QAnon seemed to invert this relationship: the identity of the criminals was never in question while the crimes, even if not entirely imaginary (one thinks again here of Epstein) were largely products of projection and fabulation. Another complementary factor must, however, also be considered in attempting to understand how lurid fantasy fused with the notion of solid research. This factor has to do with the drastic reconfiguration of the media landscape.

Clearly, the analog evidence of yesteryear constrained and disciplined investigation far more rigorously than the connectivities that proliferate in the digital world—and do so with scant deference to distinctions of true and false. In the pre-digital era, the photograph might, of course, have been doctored, but tampering with the documentary record in this manner required far more effort than is currently needed to photoshop a digital image. Likewise, the report in the police file could conceivably have been forged or planted or redacted, but as a source it remains more reliable than a post on a Facebook page or a message on a social-media feed.

A detail related by the journalist Gabriel Gatehouse in his book *The Coming Storm* is revealing in this regard; he traces QAnon back to role-playing games in which a precursor of Q took on the make-believe task of coordinating a secret operation against a deep-state cabal; participants were then assigned the task of filling in the 'facts' that were yielded by internet searches and whose status as 'facts' was protected by a wanton disregard of contrary evidence. This element of play continued to permeate the QAnon movement throughout its career. By contrast, the conspiracy theorists of the Kennedy assassination were hardly inclined to equate their mission with a game; in other words, they weren’t just playing at being detectives but sincerely trying to correct the incompetent or corrupt detective work previously carried out by accredited officials and rubber-stamped by higher authorities."

  10. A quotation from John Kennedy

But I tell you the New Frontier is here, whether we seek it or not. Beyond that frontier are the uncharted areas of science and space, unsolved problems of peace and war, unconquered pockets of ignorance and prejudice, unanswered questions of poverty and surplus. It would be easier to shrink back from that frontier, to look to the safe mediocrity of the past, to be lulled by good intentions and high rhetoric — and those who prefer that course should not cast their votes for me, regardless of party.
But I believe the times demand new invention, innovation, imagination, decision. I am asking each of you to be pioneers on that New Frontier. My call is to the young in heart, regardless of age — to all who respond to the Scriptural call: “Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed.”
For courage — not complacency — is our need today — leadership — not salesmanship. And the only valid test of leadership is the ability to lead, and lead vigorously.

  11. A quotation from John Kennedy

Woodrow Wilson’s New Freedom promised our nation a new political and economic framework. Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal promised security and succor to those in need. But the New Frontier of which I speak is not a set of promises — it is a set of challenges. It sums up not what I intend to offer the American people, but what I intend to ask of them. It appeals to their pride, not to their pocketbook — it holds out the promise of more sacrifice instead of more security.
