I’ve been on this orbiting rock for almost three quarters of a century and if I was given an extra year for every statement in the vein of:’it feels like we're on the cusp of multiple breakthroughs’, I will live longer than Methuselah.

Still these kinds of statements represent an undefined emotion which feels like I’ve got my toes over the edge of something revolutionary that is about to happen. I curse #Kurzweil and his devilishly clever book for awakening me to this emotion which had hitherto remained bogged in my subconscious. I have, ever since reading Kurzweil’s book, endured a decade and a half of ‘toe hanging’ on that edge, waiting, hoping, enthralled by an adrenalin-filled expectation that something, somewhere, soon will deliver the promised mana.

If the last fifteen years are any guide, I will die on the edge of that precipice. Or maybe, just maybe, if we are all lucky, I will get to dive into my salvation.

We should probably add the final nail in the coffin that got us booted was we were against massSurviellance applications being embedded on our phones, during #COVID. We also were highlighting how #malware was being advertised by #celebrities during #covid19 for face-to-face #communication. After that they made sure we could not use Fakebook.

I'm seeing a LOT of articles about the new release of ChatGPT, generative AI systems, and Large Language Models. I do think that we are on the cusp of an inflection point similar to the development of the world-wide-web or the release of the iPhone. It's going to be interesting to see how it all turns out.

Another article -- this one from 2009. I remember this one. I've been into sci-fi and stuff for a lot of years (the Terminator stuff in this article, Philip K Dick stuff, etc), but I've never wanted to obsess with it or have it make me paranoid or doomy. I even had to back off on a lot of it, other than Star Trek, etc, because it IS so dark, and no sci-fi will ever perfectly predict anything. But this article from 14 years ago is interesting. This kind of talk has been going around for a lot of years and again, NOBODY knows how all of this is gonna end up. And that's what's so weird about it. Anyway. I'm not sure if I posted this before (or if I even read it all when I bookmarked it) but I just took a few minutes to go through it carefully (it's LONG) but it's good. I know a lot of people are burned out by the AI crap (I pretty much am) but this really gives a good rundown on the history, the sci-fi and the future. Man, these dudes seriously wanna live forever (but WHY? Have they ever seen a vampire movie??) Anyway. It's a great long read if you have time.
