    TL;DR
    "...On the good side, solar ... surpassing hydroelectric power for the first time ..."

    The question here is;
    Will the conservatives pushing coal to concentrate money into their own pockets in the short run damage the planet such that the switch to renewables will not able to repair the damage?

    What steps can we take now to stop the con-men before its too late?

  2. #TAGN if someone leave a partial case of wine on your lawn in the city I assume its bad red wine.

    Does it make sense to try to turn it into vinegar?

    Is it any more complicate than pouring it into a suitable vessel and maybe adding red wine vinegar from the store as starter?

  4. Thinking About Good News #TAGN
    I want to congratulate the #friction ( #motionGraphic
    package) development team. I have been learning how to use their package and decided to try and build it locally. Not sure why, I dont normally build stuff I just use the released binaries of almost everything.

    I followed the instruction exactly and it built correctly the first time.

    transpomaps.org/projects/telra

    Its only in 2 cities right now, both in the SF bay area USA

    "However, despite their €160 price tag, Telraam sensors have a number of limitations that prevent them from being used as an effective advocacy tool, at least in the United States. Nonetheless, since Telraam makes their data available via an API, we decided to take a look at what their sensors in the San Francisco Bay Area are capturing."

    I have been using blender for a while. Its a #3D #animation
    package created in #Europe.
    and WOW; This is how #FLOSS software should be done and a good example of what is possible given the right people and environment.

    for example; I just downloaded the manual and I can print the parts I need to read.

    Its 6204 pages!

    arstechnica.com/gadgets/2024/0

    The folks in the US need to start asking themselves why they are getting the good stuff last.

    todays #rabbitHole #forgejo
    A new-to-me #FLOSS tool.

    I just found forgejo here on #mastodon by accident. It replaces #gitea because it #enshittified which replaced #github when it enshittified.

    So far all that I have read sounds good and morally proper. Next is to install it and play with it.

    It's a code manage tool for folks developing software or really anyone with a need for version control on a bunch of file.

    Researchers at the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Milan have craft a fully #edible #battery.

    arstechnica.com/science/2023/0

    You take some quercetin, a pigment found in almonds and capers to form the cathode;
    riboflavin (vitamin B2) makes up the battery anode;
    add some #nori, Activated charcoal, beeswax and connect it to gold foil (used to cover pastries)
    add some ethyl cellulose for structure and you have a battery at 0.65 volts.
