What physical activity gives you joy? Whether it’s walking, running, dancing or swimming, your body evolved to do it. We are made for movement. But there’s a cost, as anyone with a sore neck or aching back knows. From the tiny muscles in our skin, which raise the hair on our arms, to the intricate mix of bone, blood vessels, and nerves in our neck, natural selection has struck a delicate and sometimes wacky balance between utility and form. In this episode, we explore how parts of the body - our muscles, neck and feet - came to be, and what forces prompted the evolution of efficient yet imperfect bodies.

SETI-lautapeli pääsi pitkästä aikaa pöydälle. Pelilaatikko lupaa pelin kestoksi 40 min/pelaaja, mutta olemme vielä kaukana siitä. Nyt meni kahdelta pelaajalta 4 tuntia ja 40 minuuttia!
Pidimme välissä ruokatauon – onneksi oli toinen pöytä, jonka ääressä syödä. Tämä peli vaatii kohtalaisen kokoisen pöydän jotta se mahtuu edes esille. Mutta hienohan se on, sekä visuaalisesti että pelinä.
Vieläkään ei mennyt 100-prosenttisesti sääntöjen mukaan. Unohdimme pelin alkupuolella ottaa tuotantoon sujautettujen korttien omat tuotannot pikapalkintoina, ja yksi neutraali virstanpylväs jäi huomioimatta. Pääsimme silti molemmat noin 150 pisteeseen, eli pärjäsimme kai ihan hyvin.
Opin (taas?), että ei kannata sohia teleskoopilla joka suuntaan, vaan suunnata panokset rajatummalle alueelle. Nelinpelissä tämäkin on tietysti erilaista, ja ne tähtisektorit täyttyvät helpommin.
Noin tokavikalla vuorolla tapahtui yllättävä käänne, kun aiheutin aurinkokunnan liikahduksen ajattelematta sitä sen enempää, ja vastustajan luotain ajautui sen vuoksi pois asteroidivyöhykkeeltä, josta olisi saanut pelin päättyessä mojovat pisteet (erään kortin ansiosta).
Lopuksi vinkki mm. tamperelaisille lautapelaajille, jotka käyvät toisinaan Helsingissä: esim. juuri tätä peliä on siellä moninkertainen määrä Pirkanmaan kirjastoihin verrattuna, ja tällä hetkellä paljon lyhyemmät jonot. Siellä etelän kirjastoissa on myös useita sellaisia pelejä/lisäosia, joita ei Tampereen kirjastoista (vielä?) löydy.
