  3. Already 22 months my little boy is born and then 22 months without coding anything :blobcatcry2:

He just start to sleep the entire night, so I just start too go to bed to later than 9.00pm :blobcatsleepless:
Maybe in September or October, I'll have enough energy to code again.

On another side, the few hours I have for me per week, as I can't think or focus more than 1h per "free time" session, I draw.
I'm currently drawing an animation with #krita, started in December

For a ~4min animation with an average of 15 frames per second, with multiples layers, I already drawn 22025 uniques frames (and there's a lot of clone frames too)
Krita made the computer suffers, even with the animation splitted in 5 big sequences (at peak work, before "cleanup" of useless draft layers, Krita was requiring ~15GB of memory for the biggest sequence file - it's currently "only" requiring 9.4GB of memory for the finalized file, and i don't even talk about CPU usage when all layers are visible with transfomation mask & layer style...)

I don't count all the crashes, bugs, and weird behaviors I had to compose with... (recent Krita 5.3.3 fixed 2 of them but 90% of work is already made...) if I still have energy at the end, I'll try to open bugs&requirements, but i'm not sure to redo a such animation before many months, I start to suffer too  :ablobcatknitsweats:

Final compositing will be made with #natron and #kdenlive
Also, some for some short sequences I used #friction that is really a pleasure to use  :blobcatheart:

:blobcatheadbang:

Friction helps us slow down and retain control.

“AI” removes #Friction and we skid off the way ahead.

  11. The dominance of the internet has changed advertising in more ways than can be counted. So why do we market like we used to? @JRQuestus & @jordanberg suggest an alternative. We review #Friction: the-agency-review.com/friction @questusagency @powerHouseBooks #advertising #marketing

  12. I love #Friction 😍 – a capable motion design application. What I also love is SVG animation export out of the box: tiny filesize, smooth animation, crisp resolution. 🤗

  13. → Markdown Ate The World (by @matdevdug)
    matduggan.com/markdown-ate-the

“Most writing is about getting words down in a structure that makes sense, and then getting those words in front of other people. #Markdown does that with less #friction than anything else ever created. You can learn it in ten minutes, write it in any text editor on any device, read the source file without rendering it, diff it in version control, and convert it to virtually any output format.”

  14. Automation Feels Different When It Touches Reality

Automation in the abstract feels clean. A script executes, a rule triggers, a process completes. It’s precise, predictable, and measurable. In practice, it bumps into the messy, analog world: network lag, partial inputs, unexpected human behaviors, sensor noise. The code never changes, but the environment does, and suddenly your assumptions become liabilities.

  15. A quotation from Bertrand Russell

I think the gist of the matter is that a saint can live without politeness, and indeed that politeness is incompatible with a saintly character. But the man who is always to be sincere must be free from spite and envy and malice and pettiness. Most of us have a dose of these vices in our composition and therefore have to excerise tact to avoid giving offence. We cannot all be saints, and if saintliness is impossible, we may at least try not to be too disagreeable.

Bertrand Russell (1872-1970) English mathematician and philosopher
Essay (1933-02-01) “On Tact,” New York American

  16. A quotation from Eugene McCarthy

The only thing that saves us from the bureaucracy is inefficiency. An efficient bureaucracy is the greatest threat to liberty.

Eugene McCarthy (1916-2005) American politician, poet, activist
Quoted (1979-02-12), “People: On the Record” section, Time Magazine

  17. As promised, have some words on moving away from Animate, & why I'm trying out Friction as an alternative in the first instance. Skip this thread if you have no interest in animation software.

First up, big thanks to everyone with suggestions, & I am absolutely not dissing any of the other apps people mentioned. I had very specific requirements & they changed within a few days of the original post asking for help due to Adobe's actions.
