  10. Today I was going a bit down the "alternatives to #google that don't support #RTL" #RabbitHole and I've found out there's an alomst-but-not-quite-ready PR for #cryprpad RTL support:
    github.com/cryptpad/cryptpad/p

Calling all cryptpad geeks: let's make this happen: There's a large intersection between people/orgs under surveillance and those who need RTL languages. Let's help them stop using #google forms/docs/etc.

Backstage Burrow — How Humans First Locked Down Their Tunes (Part 2)
    Ep7-2026

Welcome back to the Backstage Burrow for Episode 7! In this episode, we run zoomies through the history of Western music notation to explore how a chaotic need for standardization sparked a brilliant visual revolution. From Charlemagne’s aggressive 800 AD decree forcing the rise of "neumes"—small squiggles and dots used as memory aids—to Guido of Arezzo hyping up the drawing of actual lines on a page to unlock sight-reading, we examine how medieval innovators completely transformed the underlying framework of human creativity.

We also trace how the mind-melting complexity of florid organum and the medieval motet forced trailblazers to eventually assign precise mathematical values directly to the physical shapes of noteheads. By completely unshackling the human mind from rigid oral traditions, these rule-breaking musical breakthroughs gave composers the ultimate green light to innovate, stacking harmonies and rhythms like never before. So keep your ears pricked, your paws tapping, and let's hop right down the rabbit hole into Part 2 of the wild history of sheet music!

  20. People think the #Matrix was about robots. It wasn't. It was about operating systems.

    #Windows is the blue pill.

You take it, and everything stays comfortable. Pretty icons. Friendly sounds. A setup wizard asking if you want to save your soul to the #cloud. Updates appear at the worst possible moment like a Marvel post-credit scene nobody asked for. Your #PC reboots. You cry. #Microsoft thanks you for improving your experience.

    #Linux is the red pill.

You wake up. You see how deep the #RabbitHole goes.

At first, it is terrifying. The #terminal stares at you like Darth Vader asking if you know the power of the #CommandLine. You type one wrong character and feel like you accidentally launched nuclear missiles.

But then something changes. You realize your #computer actually belongs to you.

No ads in the Start Menu. No #AI assistant spying harder than a reality TV producer.

No mysterious background process eating half your #RAM like Pac-Man after three energy drinks.

You choose what gets installed. You choose when #updates happen. You choose what your #desktop looks like.

    You are Neo.

Windows #users are still sitting in their pods, downloading the latest mandatory #update called KB-Whatever-Again, wondering why their printer suddenly speaks ancient Sumerian.

Linux is not perfect. Sometimes Wi-Fi drivers behave like a side quest in Dark Souls.

Sometimes you spend two hours fixing a problem just to feel smarter than everyone else.

But that is the point. The red pill was never about comfort. It was about #freedom.

And freedom means occasionally reading a forum post written by a Finnish guy in 2007 who solved your #problem and vanished forever like a #Jedi master.

Welcome to Linux. There is no spoon. Only #sudo.

Even some of the lorem ipsum generators have corrected their backstory on the subject!

#rabbithole

  37. This week's #rabbithole has been an obsessive return to last.fm after 20 years. In a nostalgic attempt to bring back the feeling of my very first photography website, I added a Bluesky feed (subbing for what was once twitter), and a "Last Played" widget powered by this. www.last.fm/user/lionels...
