Same with AI ... Software vendors and AI model providers have been giving AI away for free to spur adoption by enterprises. Can you say “unmetered,” “complimentary,” or “included” scenarios.

Those “complimentary" subsidies are starting to disappear, as the AI industry transitions to Pay-Per-Use pricing models.

Gasoline #taxes pay for, among other things in general revenue, creation and upkeep of provincial #roadways.

Electric cars use roadways, and may indeed cause more wear and tear than an equivalent ICE vehicle (because of their greater mass due to the traction battery). But electric cars don't pay gasoline taxes.

So unless you want EV drivers - who, remember, are in general wealthier than ICE drivers - being #subsidized by ICE drivers, you have to charge EV users somehow. How?

@PBruce Agreed - Garlic from Polluted China vs local Ontario/Canadian farms - all because #FossilFuels are #subsidized and it is supposedly cheaper to grow far, far away and then transport instead of growing local. grrrrrrrrr
And that practise has come back to bite us in the ass.
