Dear Senator / Representative:
I would like you to strengthen legislation against Cabinet officials using taxpayer-paid transportation for personal and campaign trips. There must be real penalties for this waste of taxpayer money.
If there are no penalties associated with the behavior, Congress needs to amend the law and make the penalties severe.
In August, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. joined Iowa GOP candidates on an Air Force-operated Gulfstream jet, according to Washington Post reporting. The visit to Iowa was strictly a campaign event; there was no business conducted. The Hatch Act of 1939 prohibits the use of federal funds for campaign activities.
Throughout his term as FBI director, Kash Patel has used FBI aircraft on personal trips to see his girlfriend. Empty criticism followed and no one compensated the taxpayers for this waste of government funds.
The men involved should be required to reimburse the taxpayers for their improper use of government aircraft. In Kennedy’s case, the Hatch Act violation should lead to his removal from federal office.
Congress should be on top of this disregard for the people’s property. Call it out. Hold public hearings, total up the taxpayer dollars used, and reclaim it from the personal finances of these cabinet officials.

Despite #BCNDP saying they’ve stopped #renovictions in #BritishColumbia they’re still very much happening. After a ruling from the Residential Tenancy Branch #RTB dozens of #Esquimalt #seniors are being kicked out in four months for the new owners to do renovations.
Many of the #renters being displaced are #LowIncome, either on #disability or a #FixedPension. As a result, most of them can’t afford market rent, and fear they could be homeless.
Because the new owner is doing renovations, not a total demolition, Esquimalt’s #Tenant Assistance Policy isn’t triggered. Any stronger policy is the #BCgovernment jurisdiction.
“It’s time for the provincial government to actually stop this from happening. If they really want to stop renovictions, then they need to change the laws,” said Douglas King, executive director of #TogetherAgainstPovertySociety.
King says what’s needed is a BC-wide #TenantAssistance #policy to better #ProtectTenants facing #displacement, but also to prevent #taxpayers from paying for the consequences down the line.
