The post of sharing my sport watch journey up until now is here😄:
It started with a cheap Chinese Mi Band. No GPS, questionable accuracy, and very basic sports metrics. But it did one important thing: **it motivated me to move.**
Then came the Amazfit Square 2. A serious step up — GPS, better sports tracking, and much more useful metrics. Unfortunately, it met its end when I fell off my bike. Better watch then me.💀
Next was the Garmin Venu 2. I really liked it. Great metrics, great software, and a huge step forward from what I had before.
Until, after about a year, it suddenly stopped working.
So I went all in on Garmin.
I bought a Fenix 6S and used it for a couple of years. It was a fantastic watch and probably the first one I genuinely considered a serious long-term sports companion.
Eventually, though, it started showing its age, so I upgraded to the Fenix 7S Solar.
Again, a great watch. But over time I started noticing a couple of things.
First, it was getting a bit too bulky for everyday wear.
Second, once the Fenix 8 generation arrived, it felt like Garmin's major new features were increasingly focused on the newer models.
And then came the subscription announcement.
That was probably the last straw. 😅
I decided it was time to look outside Garmin.
The two brands I was most interested in were COROS and Suunto. I picked up their cheaper models and spent some time comparing them.
And now I think I’ve finally figured out what I actually want.
I don't need a smartwatch with every possible feature. I want accurate GPS, reliable sports metrics, good training data, great battery life — and something I actually enjoy wearing every day.
So I’m going with COROS.
More specifically, I’ve practically decided on the **Pace 4 Aluminum**.
It gives me all the metrics and precision I need for training, while keeping a minimalist, stylish design that works just as well casually.
After going from Mi Band → Amazfit → Venu → Fenix 6S → Fenix 7S Solar → COROS, it’s funny that I ended up at the simplest conclusion: Give me the data I need, make it accurate, make the watch comfortable — and don't get in the way.
Maybe this is finally the end of my watch journey. For now. 😄

My brand new smartwatch arrived today. Garmin, Apple, Coros, Google, Fitbit? Nope. A Colmi P81. Unbelievably it only cost me €22. Yes, that includes shipping from the mysterious far-east warehouse where watches go to become… functional.
Just been setting it up. You know what? It does the job. Look, it doesn't have the bells and whistles of the fancy brands. Or really any whistles. But here's the thing: it works.
Tells time ✓ Sets alarms ✓ Tracks heart rate, blood pressure, sleep, exercise ✓ Even bluetooths with my phone if I suddenly decide I need notifications everytime somebody rings or emails me (n.b I don't). Even IP68 waterproof in case it ever rains again. And no, I'm not getting any commission for this!
So far so good. It hasn't exploded, cursed me in another language, run out of charge after an hours use, nor convinced me to buy a premium feature 🤣

Sul Giornale degli Orologi ho recensito le app per #smartwatch (watchOS, WearOS, Zepp, Garmin) che lavorano davvero al nostro posto. Mi sono concentrato su tool utili e capaci di operare anche #offline: mappe topografiche al polso, meteo iperlocale, fasi lunari. Niente distrazioni, solo dati utili quando servono. ⌚🏔️
