1/2 @ruari @ruari I asked because I am trying not to add stuff in my life that needs apps. I hope that in a couple of years Linux mainline on mobile (postmarket and stuff) has gotten so good that I can daily drive it.
Looks cool doh. And I learned a lot from your thread. I have seen tapster getting pushed by DNB, and I figured it was token based, like Garmin pay.
Funny enough you mentioned Garmin., I use Garmin Pay now, but since I want to move away from garmin connect (to #gadgetbridge).

Dziś dowiedziałem się, że #GadgetBridge obsługuje już opaski #Huawei. I działają od ręki, bez cudowasa nia z aplikacjami i kontami (nie to co #Xiaomi).

I recently got an Amazfit Helio Strap, and it's a thoroughly "Meh" tool.
It's relatively cheap, unnecessarily complicated to pair with @gadgetbridge (not GB's fault), lasts a week on a charge, has no screen, the measurements feels accurate enough, came assembled the wrong way around and I'll likely replace the wristband soon.
Nothing fancy, get's the job done.

Ich muss noch mal Werbung machen, die APP #gadgetbridge ist Klasse. Meine watch läuft super und der Akku Verbrauch von Smartphone und Uhr hat sich auch verbessert .
Es gab ein Problem mit der Übertragung der Wetterdaten und wir sind jetzt schon 2 Tage im #matrix chat am tippen um herauszufinden wo das Problem her kommen könnte, die Entwickler haben merklich Spass daran Probleme zu fixen. Diese #foss community ist herrlich, ich freue mich so sehr ein teil davon zu sein.

I just swapped my aged #garmin fr 235 against a 255 and I am impressed! Immediate connection and synced repeatedly out of the box! With the latter the old one has had its problems.The watch didnt ever connect to garmin connect so your tool is awesome! After more than 10 years of using connect I really like to own the data. Not to steal it with tools like tapiriik and so on.

Schwere Geburt aber ich habe es geschafft auch die letzte Spionage App wurde durch eine #foss alternative ersetzt #gadgetbridge ist das Zauberwort man muss mehr oder weniger aufwendig einen Authentifizierungs code von den ZEPP Servern auslesen mit man seine amazfit watch Koppeln kann, nachdem ich das getan habe bin ich begeistert selbst der akkuverbrauch von Telefon und Uhr wurde verbessert, benachrichtigungen kommen zuverlässig und man kann alles genau so steuern und einstellen wie mit der #datenkrake ZEPP.
ich kann es jedem nur empfehlen ! -

Diese geniale FOSS-App synchronisiert nicht nur meine Vivoactive-Daten aufs Smartphone, sondern ersetzt fast die gesamte Funktionalität von Garmin Connect! Lediglich die VO2 Max-Berechnung bleibt dem Original vorbehalten. Alle anderen Aktivitätsdaten, Schlaf, Herzfrequenz – Gadgetbridge erfasst und exportiert sie als ZIP.
Von dort übernimmt Syncthing, synchronisiert die ZIPs automatisch & verschlüsselt auf meinen Debian-Server. Keine Kabel, kein Gefummel – pure Bequemlichkeit & Kontrolle!

For those that want to know, i bought a #Garmin Instinct 2 and it works with #Gadgetbridge perfectly. Most Smart Watches are subsidised by sending huge amounts of data to their overlords in exchange for a cheap device. Gadgetbridge is the option to stop that, On Android.
Also my battery life is sitting at 28 <DAYS!> per charge. Incredible

Currently I reactivated my ancient Garmin Forerunner 235 and using it with GB only for the last 10 days with mixed results, but quite content. I am using it for only steps tracking and tracking workouts
When buying new hardware you should be able to achieve similar or better results. My long term goal is having no tie to Garmin Connect

Well, I'm alive and the reinstallation went pretty quickly, easily, and painlessly. I verified the build with another device, skimmed through the new settings, enabled backups. Created several profiles for applications linked to jurisdictions (KZ and RU) and corporations (#Yandex and #Google). In the owner profile, I install trusted apps that need constant access, such as #Gadgetbridge.

Ich nutze (seit Weihnachten) eine Garmin Venu 4 und schaue mir demnächst genauer an, was bei der Nutzung mit Garmin Connect wirklich nötig ist: Welche Domains braucht die App für Login/Sync/Updates – und was kann man blocken, ohne dass die Uhr unbrauchbar wird? Außerdem beschreibe ich eine möglichst pseudonyme Nutzung (wo das realistisch ist und wo nicht). Und wer gar keinen Bock auf Datenübermittlung an Garmin hat: Für viele Basics lohnt sich ein Blick auf Gadgetbridge als lokale Alternative (mit den üblichen Einschränkungen). ⌚
