#RubyLang is an extremely capable programming language. I've always wondered why 99% of the code for #LLM and #AI / #ML is done in #PythonLang and (for no obvious good reason) #JavaScript, #TypeScript, or #ECMAscript.

The on-ramp for Python may be easier, but it's overall less consistent and IMHO more obscure and less capable for introspection, DSLs, and for metaprogramming, so why is its ecosystem bigger for AI/ML? I wish someone would explain that in a non hand-wavey way.

#RubyLang is an extremely capable programming language. I've always wondered why 99% of the code for #LLM and #AI / #ML is done in #PythonLang and (for no obvious good reason) #JavaScript, #TypeScript, or #ECMAscript.

There's been recent discussion about #POSIX & the #bash_shell. Some shells are awesome but don't even pretend to follow the POSIX standards. The #fish_shell is a good example.

- I really love old computers, esp ones to do with the history of #HPC, such as #SGI machines - sadly I do not own any of these computers as of writing this :(

- On the note of consoles, I own: an #xboxone S, a #PS3, an #originalxbox, a #Wii, and a #GameCube

After 132 commits and 6 reviewers, https://github.com/mozilla/uniffi-rs/pull/1409 is finally merged \o/.

UniFFI can generate bindings for Rust async functions/methods to Python, Swift and Kotlin, with native async runtimes (resp. `asyncio`, `Task` and `suspend`).

That’s really exciting! Rust `Future` being driven by a foreign language async runtime, that’s pure fun.

I find it interesting that #Python seems to have replaced #Ruby as my go-to #scriptingLanguage?
My professional #coding experience is mostly with #RubyLang, and I've probably done the majority of my personal #scripting in it, along with #Bash script, but for the past couple of months I've mostly used #Python3.

At first it was to familiarise myself more with #PythonLang, but I can't quite put my finger on it why I'm still more likely to start a script in Python after this initial period.
