En un muro cada ladrillo tiene entidad y forma parte del conjunto. Eso es Confessions II. Un refulgente nuevo disco que resume la carrera de su estrella. La inicial I Feel So Free, de las mejores pistas, sirva de muestra.
Entre speakers demenciales vibran las confidencias, marcadas por la cadencia de variopintos ritmos lúdicos. La techno Good For The Soul (mejor que School), la noventas My Sins Are My Saviour (o Betrayal, que juega a lo mismo) o ese house de chispa mediterránea entonado con dulzura que es One Step Away lo corroboran. No por artificial, la eléctronica vehicula peor lo humano.
Epicuro hablaba del hedonismo pero nunca descocado sino con foco. Madonna, también: The Test charla bailango ligero y emocionando (You are my reason to be) aunque es Fragile el que hace diana gracias a su rítmica melódica catchy y su arreglo daftpunkero hacia el 3.15, sin duda funcionaría en acústico. L.E.S. Girl se le acerca. Por todo esto, este Confessions supera al primero.
Madonna busca canciones tan universales como bien diseñadas. Desde Future Nostalgia y Bratz no había algo así.
El aura del LP es Dancetería, y por suerte no es un dúo (las collabs no redondean al alza el conjunto). Sus efectos, coros, capas, parece que acaba en lo mejor, como los temas inmortales. Luego, cinco tracks abajo, Bizarre la releva. Después iría Everything, de mayor voltaje en lo vocal y la música: es la prima loquer de I Feel So Free; y de Love Whitout Words, la prima retraída.
Bizarre es la parte de noche de Dancetería. Oscura, a su manera soft industrial, dando una comunión perfecta entre dance y pop.

I've checked Madonna's 'Confessions II' album, watched parts of the NYC promo concert and her TikTok promovideo with her daughter. Here's my unvarnished (unpopular) opinion:
I'm disappointed by lack of depth and originality. I feel like she's rehashing her past work and themes, rather than a new direction. Some of the lyrics you like "be free" and "be yourself" feel superficial and overused.
It feels at times that she becomes a caricature of herself, stuck in a time loop, repeating the same themes and style, and trying to fit into a mold that's no longer authentic to her true self.
Moreover the extreme plastic surgery and focus on revealing clothes and 'sexy' dance moves come across as a desperate attempt to maintain a youthful image, rather than a genuine expression of her artistry.
One positive note though is 'Danceteria' which is a great song with a fun video and has a chance to become a classic. Also feels very reminiscent of Vogue, which to me is not a bad thing.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️½
