@tiefling @VulpineDruid I agree we should assume good intentions, not exclude and not harass. But the fact that alt text is used in (part of) the fediverse comes from the fact that we collectively ask each other to use alt text and to use #alt4me when needed. These should be asked kindly, but if even that is not acceptable, then we need something else to do better by people not able to write alt texts without letting people using screen readers down.

@tiefling @gwenthefops @VulpineDruid I agree completely with your second and third paragraph, but I have trouble connecting with the first one, more precisely about asking people who cannot write alt text to use #alt4me being "treating them like they're less". In the presence of various conditions being impossible to accommodate all perfectly, isn't that something legitimate to suggest?
