Open-source headphones!
https://ploopy.co/headphones/
And studio-grade at that as well :)You can buy them fully assembled or build from a kit, or make everything yourself. From reviews they seem to be relatively very cheap compared to how good they sound.
They run off of a USB connection.
These are open-back over-ear. I wonder if there's designs for a closed-back version...

HiFiScan is an open-source application that lets you either manually or automatically create an #EQ curve to compensate for your speakers or room frequency response in order to achieve a flat, neutral audio reproduction. There are well known commercial products that do this, so here's a #libre alternative:
https://github.com/erdewit/HiFiScan
It can export curves that can be imported into system-wide EQ software for Linux, Mac and Windows.

We've suddenly lost Geonkick today 😢
All of the project's repos have been suddenly archived with a note added stating that the project is no longer developed or maintained.
This is very sad news for the Linux audio community, as Geonkick is the best drum synthesizer that we have, and it has been developing rapidly in the past year, only to suddenly crash without explanation.
https://github.com/iurie-sw/geonkick
I hope the developer is safe and sound.

I am thinking about starting a community project to develop a modern, powerful libre EQ plug-in.
I'm no developer though, so I'd need your help.
The primary goals I have in mind are:
- sound quality and flexibility
- fast workflow
- simple, scalable and responsive UI
- advanced features like bandpass listen, morphing between states for easy automation, following MIDI note pitch, possible linear-phase mode. What do you think?
