A few weeks ago I found a bag with old #cassette tapes and discovered recordings from the early #90s mostly myself endlessly jamming on the #guitar. One riff was not even terrible, so I sampled it and made a track out of it in @ardour , with #geonkick , #surgext and a ton of other #FOSS plugins, all to participate in the @libremusicchallenge

Huh, sounds like I finally made some actual progress towards the kind of dirty kick I want to make with #Ardour and #geonkick – turns out the secret was to just do everything with brownian noise. :thinkhappy:

This is literally just two layers of brownian noise with highpass filters – one for the dirty piep (like in a piepkick, but a bit lower freq) in the beginning and the other for the kick itself.

Fair warning: It's fucking loud, because it should be. :)

Oh no, I accidentally made a filthy hardtekk drum when trying to improve my attempt at a frenchcore drum with #geonkick.

Now apparently I'll have to make a bad hardtekk song and I blame @unfa for this.

The Geonkick developer Iurie Nistor is fine, and has stated his reasons for discontinuing Geonkick development:

We've suddenly lost Geonkick today 😢

All of the project's repos have been suddenly archived with a note added stating that the project is no longer developed or maintained.

This is very sad news for the Linux audio community, as Geonkick is the best drum synthesizer that we have, and it has been developing rapidly in the past year, only to suddenly crash without explanation.
