#Reading is always a struggle for me. I don't think it is dyslexia as much as it's a greater motivational/executive functional issue. It's hard to participate in posting my reads since the scale at which I'm able to read a book can last longer than a year, much less a month.
I enjoy it when I can get over the issues long enough to get the content in. And as I've been getting older, I'm looking to poke around at the greater issue to see how to help myself.
Recently, I decided to try a speed-reading technique to see if I can use my limited reading time to push more into my brain. I worked with the RSVP method at about 300wpm (can do faster if I concentrate), and while more content does get consumed,I don't find it very enjoyable. It was interesting to try it,and I might use it more if I can get more comfortable with it.
All that said, I've been working through a re-read of First Shift by #HughHowey and poking around with #JennyLawson 's How to be OK When Nothing Is Ok. Both very good.

@isol @randahl I will strongly second the book recommendation. I read them a decade ago? and it led me to read nearly all of his other work.
I don't think of the story as Silo at all. In my head, it's still "Wool and the other two books." 😆
We are getting through the second book now, but one thing I like about watching the TV show is how well they're smearing the edges of the three books together.

🇬🇧 I got up early and finished reading the last part of the #Silo trilogy by #HughHowey. I was tempted to read it by the adaptation in the form of a series on #AppleTVPlus. The first season of the series covers about 5/12 of the first out of three books.
🇵🇱 Wstałem wcześniej i skończyłem czytać ostatnią część trylogii #Silos autorstwa #HughHowey. Skłoniła mnie do przeczytania ekranizacja w postaci serialu na #AppleTVPlus. Pierwszy sezon pokrywa jakieś 5/12 pierwszej z trzech książek.

These books sold me on Hugh Howey. My OCD gets mainlined with good authors and he's no exception, I've read nearly everything he's written. And keep finding more and I know I have to catch up now, too.
These books aren't known to me as Silo, I think of them as Wool, Wool II (Shift), and Wool III (Dust). :) So when I see #silo I have to translate that to #wool
Immediately after I finished this trilogy I devoured the Sand series, plus fanfic. Then I chomped through all his space stuff, which is some of his BEST stuff. Not Wool-level mindblowing (imho), but still ... his universe building is like watercolor paints. Half Way Home is spectacular.
And guess what? There's another show. Beacon 23, that's the same author. I don't know if it's as good, but I wanna see it. The books are also fantastic.

Having been a fan of #HughHowey for a while now, and having seen success with the #Wool series which is now the #Silo series on #AppleTV, I had already been reading and enjoying the #Beacon23 stories and was pretty excited to hear that it was coming to its own series.
I read Beacon 23 when they first came out, but it's been a while, so when I started watching the series on #MGMPlus I wasn't sure I remembered the nature of the plot there. But I really enjoyed the series as well. Good acting and interesting premise. And the visuals are really pretty. I'm not entirely sure the series is worth keeping an MGM+ subscription since I haven't found other exclusive content there that would drive me having it, but definitely worth a trial to binge Beacon 23. I was also happy to learn that they have already gotten their 2nd Season nod, and I'll be curious to see where it goes. I definitely recommend checking it out.

It’s been a very long time since I read novels out of my own free will. Having been forced to read some pretty annoying stuff during my time studying literature made me lose interest in this medium. Wool is one of the first book sets I've re-read more than once. And I have definitely read the entire Silo series since. #books
