Steam Controller vibration motor hacks: Play music, drive it like a RC car, and even make it return to its charger automatically

Valve’s new Steam Controller is a $99 game controller that went on sale in May (and quickly sold out). It has all the usual features like dual analog sticks, a D-Pad, ABXY buttons, and shoulder triggers. It also has some unusual features like two touchpads that make it easier to play some PC games.

I found a new science-based open source VR haptics device! This one stretches your arm skin instead of some mechanism on the hand. This has two advantages: It feels more natural for big movements, and it's probably easier to wear since it doesn't interfere with the controller. Promising, will try to build one!

Does anyone know of mappings from vision to touch? I'd like to map the artistic aesthetics of visual art to haptic feedback, like vibrations and textures felt through the fingertips using a piezoelectric haptic motor.

I'm thinking people with synesthesia that blend visual and haptic information may have ideas about potential mappings between visual sensations like colors and touch sensations like textures or vibrations.

I'm trying to imagine how a blind person could touch visual art.

Anyone have leads?
