Ermete Ferraro si è dimesso dalla presidenza del Movimento Internazionale della Riconciliazione (MIR). La decisione è maturata in seguito al voto dell’organismo direttivo, che ha stabilito di sostenere la raccolta di firme per la proposta di legge d’iniziativa popolare sulla "Difesa civile, non armata e nonviolenta" (DCNANV).
Il fulcro del dissenso risiede nella sostanza della proposta normativa che Ferraro definisce "minimalista e contraddittorio".

11. Julija 1995 je bilo v in okoli Srebrenice umorjenih več kot 8.000 bošnjaških dečkov in moških. Ta tragedija ostaja eden najtemnejših trenutkov sodobne evropske zgodovine.

Spomin ni le poklon žrtvam in njihovim družinam. Je tudi opomin, da mir, človekove pravice in demokracija niso samoumevni. Ko dopuščamo sovražni govor, zanikanje zgodovine ali delitve med ljudmi, odpiramo prostor za ponavljanje preteklih napak.
