I am so pissed off! We spent a lot of money to be at Gamescom and hopefully meet publishers to fund Beware of the Cartographer. For one month, I tried to reach them through the official biz app and never got an answer, until yesterday when someone told me everybody uses an alternative (and expensive) meeting app. Of course, every game scout has their schedule fully booked now. #Gamescom #Devcom #gamescom2025

On the first day of #DDC2024 there was a whole track about AI in game development. And it was not bad, people emphasized on the idea, that AI is a tool, that can be leveraged in multiple ways in different professional areas, rather than replace people. I especially liked the presentation from Johanna Pirker who is a researcher and tried to show different ways to use AI in game design.

The first Keynote by Kelsey Beachum from Super Evil Megacorp was about importance of the story to be integrated into the game, rather than separated into a story wrapper. You can do so much more than a cutscene!

I think I'm just getting over the discombobulation of my first experience of #gamescom. I would actually like to return next year with a better understanding of how it works, what to expect and how to plan for it. I made some amazing contacts. It was still a bit overwhelming. The sheer size of #koelnmesse, a complex half a kilometre long, was confusing too! Definitely coming back for #devcom too, I only got one day of Devcom. Ich have auch mein Deutsch ein bisschen verbessern!
