#dankmaterialshell die meisten Maschinen auf noctalia umgestellt.
Allerdings vermisse ich zwei Dinge:
- Desktop Widgets immer im Vordergrund - praktisch wenn man seine Tageszeitung im Vollbild-Modus liest und trotzdem noch die Uhrzeit einblenden kann
- Wetteranzeige ist bei dms viel detaillierter (stündlich). Bei noctalia hat man nur die tägliche Angabe. -

https://github.com/AvengeMedia/DankMaterialShell/releases/tag/v1.0.0#dms est un shell de bureau wayland, ni plus ni moins. Les gestionnaires de fenêtres en tiling (mais pas que), comme #NIri, #Sway ou encore #Scroll sont fournis nus, traditionnellement c’est à chacun d’assembler et configurer le nécessaire pour y ajouter barre d’état, dock, fond d’écran, mode nuit, etc. Et c’est là que dms intervient, en fournissant un tout cohérent clef en main, configurable graphiquement.

Nutze bei meiner #opensuse #slowroll Installation nun #noctaliashell statt #dankmaterialshell
Sehr viele Plugins, aber leider ist das web search plugins recht eingeschränkt. Man hat eine feste Vorauswahl und kann keinen eigenen Such-Provider definieren.
Das ist beim dms-Pendant besser.
Ansonsten ist das zweite - für mich wichtige - Plugin ein guter Ersatz: die Dateisuche. DMS hat hierfür ein eigenes Tool in Go. Noctalia nutzt hier einfach #fdfind

I just installed KDE Connect on my #nixos laptop and it's absolutely amazing! Seamless integration between my laptop and phone. Send files, clipboard, SMS, etc.
It proves that the choice between freedom and seamlessness (i.e. walled gardens) is a false dichotomy; you can have both.

Inzwischen bietet auch #noctalia shell ein layout switcher widget an, per plugin.
Aber ein Killerfeature hat #dankmaterialshell was noctalia nicht hat: #danksearch ! 👍 -
About a month ago I switched away from using my own dotfiles for #niri in lieu of #dankmaterialshell. It might stem from me wanting to just use my machine instead of having to maintain my machine, but it’s been a very nice experience. The devs are working hard adding a ton of features to make a nice desktop environment, and there’s already a pretty in depth plugin ecosystem for adding more specific features. I’ve been enjoying it!

Got couple of nice QOL improvements merged into the #DankMaterialShell Pomodoro Plugin yesterday - IPC bindings so you can bind Pomodoros to shortcuts in your window manager and automatic muting of notifications while you work. (optional setting)

Hat eine Weile gedauert alles einzurichten, daß es passt, aber hat sich gelohnt: auf meinem Heimrechner läuft nun #mangowc
Sehr gail! Nicht nur daß man ein "richtiges" scratchpad hat und für jeden tag ein eigenes Layout zuweisen kann, auch kommt es besser mit java Anwendungen klar. #niri hat hier Probleme:

#quickshell Umgebung #dankmaterialshell ist hier sehr dankbar. Nimmt einem viel "Gegurke" ab, da #dms sehr viele Funktionen bietet. Bei #waybar benötigt man zusätzliche Software/configs. -
Tendiere zu #mangowc und #dankmaterialshell
Kombi gefällt mir aktuell am besten, auch wenn mangowc noch relativ jung ist und einige Features fehlen.
