Dr. Lockwood has a sound point.
Mastery-based #education has been shown to be more effective: Instead of holding fixed the duration to learn and varying the #learning outcomes (an inherently and irremediably classist and ableist colonial norm), vary the duration to learn and hold fixed the outcome of topic mastery.
Learning only happens on the output side, but grade-based learning doesn’t promote learning: It promotes playing the system to maximize grades. Eliminate grades, and replace the competition and social sorting with cooperation and constructive education, and you get more learned students.
Only trouble is, the ruling class controlling educational policy consider the social sorting a feature, not a bug: It is selective for their own children against others, thus reducing competition in the higher-paying and more power-proximate labour market. The resulting inequity is the system working as intended.
Consider: who gets to provide their children unlimited access to predictably quiet and peaceful spaces, private tutoring, and anything else they need to maximize grades?
Conveniently for most of them, due to the intergenerational transmission of socioeconomic status this social sorting reinforces, graded education also upholds white supremacy. Also conveniently for the most powerful of them, it bolsters #patriarchy and #eugenics as well.
It should thus come as no surprise that the ruling class are promoting #AI — particularly, “generative” “AI” (read: plagiaristic content synthesis). By offering a shortcut to output without the cognitive effort to come up with said output themselves, it sabotages learning.
Since children of poor and working-class families are most strapped for learning-conducive space and time, they’re most pressured to use #genAI. It is therefore their education most sabotaged in early grades, and them most likely to face expulsion from #PSE for #plagiarism if their AI-generated homework gets them admission.

What else are #academic|s doing than to promote themselves when they expose their #skills & #knowledge in the Fediverse?
I consider it #bigotry on #speed to blame #tradies, #artists & #sexworkers for trying to generate #income here.

Advertising to commuter students has been one of the things that has helped them reverse that trend, but they’re not out of the woods yet.
Now they desperately want students who will enrol but not have the “real college experience” by living in the dorms.
I’m glad they’ve made this change, but I also find it incredibly funny. They could have just welcomed us in the first place and not assumed everyone had endless funds.

Affording school was hard enough with me living at home. I quietly thought those employees were terribly out of touch with people who lived in lower tax brackets, but I’d smile and change the topic every time.
Today I looked up my college to see how they’re doing. Enrolment had dropped there for years, and they were in danger of losing their accreditation due to how they handled funds and debt.

Here’s an interesting story about how the college I graduated from has evolved over time.
When I attended there, they disliked commuter students.
I had multiple conversations over the years there with various faculty and staff members who said things like, “but you’re not getting a real college experience if you don’t live in the dorms!”

Jo teď jsem zjistil - oni dle mého názoru v zásadě vybrali bezdomovce, kterým se vede nejlépe, dali jim prachy a pak zjistili, že se jim vede relativně dobře (i když průměrný plat 15 000 Kč - nevím kdo z toho dokáže v českém režimu vyžít). Takže podle mě studie na nereprezentativním vzorku předem vybraném tak, aby to vyšlo.

It is my opinion that the inhumane authoritarian Czech regime,through the fashion police,kidnapped kids as a revenge for not liking the aesthetic appearance of their home and for the children not being sent to IMO a child concentration camp to be brainwashed by regime propaganda.
"What brought the mother to the situation where she had to sleep in a tent with her children is not clear at this time." - this is IMO an indirect lie and it is very clear to me - it's because of the failure of the Czech state has reached such a level that the territory of Czechia is practically uninhabitable for many people, the health system is failing,psychiatry and social support dysfunctional,food and housing are available only to the rich,it's impossible to live on an ordinary salary so that people inevitably end up in such conditions.
As far as I know,even in the developing dictatorship of the 3rd world,Cambodia,the regime would not kidnap children from their parents because they are poor. In my this is child trafficking committed by the state and this does not happen in Cambodia either. In my opinion,the Czech Republic is a 4th world country.
It is my opinion that instead of providing them with social the Czech regime is abusing them in a gross and very psychologically painful way by kidnapping their children. In my opinion, kidnapping from parents is much worse for children than living in a tent with nicely arranged small pieces of furniture and a clean floor as I see in the photo and they allegedly have not been to the doctor or to school.
