The winter semester @tudarmstadt starts this week – wishing everyone a smooth and successful start to the new term!

This semester, our teaching will include a focus on Kafka. We will use computational methods to analyze character dynamics and narrative structures in Kafka's texts. With @CATMA_app we will annotate stories like Die Verwandlung and Das Urteil to explore narrative strategies.

I haven't seen Dogma (1999) in at LEAST 20 years, and it's never on, but I was able to buy it. Shylo wants me to wake her when they follow it up with the sequel, "Catma".

Nils Egger, Lina Franken, Dennis Möbus, Florian Schmid über ihr Projekt, in dem #TopicModeling und manuelle Annotation per #CATMA kombiniert und mit Workshopteilnehmenden getestet werden. Ein Resultat: topic m. führt nicht zu signifikant anderen Annotationsergebnissen. #DHd2023

- #RQDA, an #RStats package which was unfortunately kicked out of CRAN a while ago, so hard to install. Seems to depend on one person.
- #Taguette, lovely browser-based tool, actively developed.
- #Qualcoder, promising Python-based tool, actively developed but installation barrier too high for now.
- #CATMA, browser-based as well, with more features than others, but I found the interface hard to grasp. Has institutional backing.
