👉 We did a thing, and I wrote about it: At the beginning of February, we held a transcription sprint for #Arabic to train an #ATR model in Transkribus.
Read about what we did and how we did it on our project blog on #Hypotheses: https://dsenetwork.hypotheses.org/749
Yes, we know there are excellent ATR models for Arabic out there; they're just not available on #Transkribus, and that is the platform researchers here at #UniOslo prefer. -
Today, I will present our progress w/ the bilingual #DigitalScholarlyEdition of the #Danish #EthicaComplementoria prints from 1674 + 1678!
I'm happy to be invited to speak for the #Bookhistory research group at #UniOslo.
We've successfully transcribed & tagged 600+ pages (using #Transkribus for #AutomaticTextRecognition helped tremendously!) & are about to map them onto the #DeutschesTextarchiv #DTA base format. We'll make some adjustments for publication w/ #Bokselskap https://www.bokselskap.no/ -
🧵 2/ Continuing w/ a guidance session on how to use #Transkribus for #AutomatedTextRecognition where there are no or only a few public models available, this time for medieval #French #Latin & #Occitane. #HTR and #OCR are a common topics all across the Humanities and related disciplines and the Uni Oslo Library is about to become a member organisation of READCoop

🧵 3/ #ResearchSupportPartnershipUiO continues after lunch w/ my "adopted" colleagues from the #History section. I had a coordinating & getting-to-know meeting to set up some presentations and show-and-tell sessions for the Depts. #DigitalMeetup that happens every #Tuesday. I offered to do short sessions on #TaDiRAH, #Transkribus, #Tropy and #Tesseract during the fall. I'll use the 1678 #Danish translation of the #EthicaComplementoria as an example for #AutomatedTextRecognition of C17th books!
