Reminder that #busdrivers appreciate a #greeting going in and out. They drive everyone around all day so you can jump on and get out. Some small acknowledgement they aren't robots but #people working hard for you isn't a bad thing.

Yes, I did just get in a bus where everyone else just completely ignored the driver going in. Not even worth a look away from their #phones apparently 🥲.

I absolutely respect bus drivers' right to not have to put themselves in danger collecting fares. But the best solution would be to just do what I've been advocating for the subway, as well:
Don't have a fare.
Make it free to ride. Just pay for the whole thing with taxes. (Congestion pricing would help with that, and fuck Gov. Hochul.)

Home from the Roadeo, cleaned up and tired. GREAT event this year, ran smoothly, no hiccups or calamities. We give six prizes: First, Second, and Third place, Fastest Time, Best Wheelchair Securement Score, and Rookie of the Year for drivers competing for the first time. Same first-place winner as last year (his fifth, and he's going for ten), but it was sweet seeing our Rookie of the Year, a young driver from Howard County, also winning Second Place. It was heartwarming to see him so happy and proud, and his coworkers all cheering for him. He takes his job seriously and it gives me joy to know there are public transit drivers out there like him. Our Best Wheelchair Securement winner was a sweet lady who got a PERFECT score and they tell me she's known in her agency as the best one for dealing with people in mobility devices.
Met folks from all around the state, and I do seem to attract the western MD folks around me. But now? I'm a wreck. A WRECK. Don't bug me for a while.

Local Council #recruitment and #marketing #fail : they paid to put ads below a YouTube video (a young lad uploading an action camera film of his drive around the local area) asking for #BusDrivers for a new community service ; but only want to hire those who already have D1 group (small bus) on their driving licence - so they would only be poaching existing bus drivers (of which there is a shortage) or folk over 42 years old (who if they wanted to drive a bus would likely already be doing so)
