  1. GUYS I just saw my fist full size battery electric bus!

I really wish we had catenary 🚎 instead but this will do for now.

it is essentially silent amongst the cacophony around it.

  11. We recently went for a ride on one of BC Transit's new electric buses in Victoria, BC. It was a quieter and air conditioned trip :) The first image is on the #22 route (Yates St) and the second is on the #28 route (Douglas St). #VictoriaBC #BCTransit #electricbus

  15. Transit in BC. Frustrating! A route that used to be 1h 13m in 2011 is now 1h:46m compared to 37 minutes by car.

How can transit planners expect riders to take a bus for 3hrs and 19m when the same journey could be done in 1h 10m in a car?

That's the reality in the Nanaimo transit system. They serve a vast area, with over 100,000 people. But In 25 years, the time to get from the edge of that area, to the middle, has grown.

And don't get me started on using the railway.

  25. Hey all you Vancouver BC people. Traveling to your lovely province the end of this month into the next. Going to be going from downtown Vancouver to Port Moody, Burnaby and North Vancouver on a regular basis, over the 7 days I will be there. Considering this covers 3 zones, I don’t know what would be best for public transportation options. Do I pick up a compass card and just use that as needed with a preloaded amount? (I am worried I will load more than I need) or do I just get 7 - day passes? I have checked the website, and it just isn’t as conclusive as I would like without putting in my start/stop points to determine that specific day’s fares. Any guidance would be very welcome! Cheers! #BCtransit #vancouver

  30. So it turned out that #BCTransit on the #SunshineCoastBC has a daily bus fare cap and I found out just now that the 4 times I took the bus today to go from city to city costed me $4 total.

And the cherry on top is the ferry from Langdale to Horseshoe Bay is free for foot passengers. This is awesome, and it’s wild that there are so few making use of this!

  38. This morning on the bus, the driver (who is always lovely) stopped at a light and announced: “I’m taking advantage of the red light to let you know that Tuesday is the first, April Fool’s Day - but it’s no joke that fares are going up that day, be ready, it’ll be $3 single fare and $6 for a day pass.” It was unusual and a very kind, thoughtful reminder. #bctransit #yyj #bus #publictransport
