Went back to the #KiloChurch this morning after being away a couple weeks because of my mom's illness and passing.
There were moments that were tangibly, painfully cringe, and the music was so loud that I really did need earplugs (which they provided).
But then the message was actually pretty on-point, talking about the value of friendships and welcoming communities out of the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, so...

Oh, and the group leader from my previous #BSF / #BibleStudyFellowship that I dropped out of called me asking me if I wanted to join the next one. I wasn't even thinking about it, but we actually had a really nice convo, so I guess I'm in. XD

Went to a Bible Study Fellowship for the first time last night.
It was pretty cool!
I had an honest moment of sadness when I realized that we were not only divided by gender but also age group. (I'm still young! Don't cage me in with the old geezers! I'm 25 in my soul!!!)But it was great, and I grew to have a lot of fondness for those old guys (no, I'm not telling you my age, lol)
I just wish there wasn't so much pulpit-teaching and more group time. Like, all of it. :D

A Bangladeshi teenager has been killed by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Dhantala border in Thakurgaon. This incident occurred early this morning (September 9) in the area of pillar number 393 at the Dhantala border.
The deceased, Shring Joyanta Lahiri, was the son of Mahadeb from the Bototli village in the Dhantala Union. According to relatives, the BSF has taken the teenager's body.

As soon as Sorna reached the waterbody near the Lalarchak border in Kulaura, she became terrified upon seeing the BSF (Border Security Force) and cried out, "Don't kill us, take us under the law." Instead of receiving a reply, her chest was pierced by a BSF bullet. Seeing the gun aimed at her, Sorna turned around. The bullet entered through the right side of her chest and exited the other side. At that moment, Sorna said, "Mother, let go of my hand, I won't survive anymore. Save your life." Sorna's brother Pintu Das shared these heart-wrenching details with Manabzamin (a news outlet) through tears, after hearing the story from his mother when she regained consciousness.
The village of Kalnigor in Juri Upazila is now engulfed in mourning. This once peaceful locality is shattered by grief. Sorna Das, a young girl from this village, has passed away, falling victim to the bullets of the BSF while trying to cross the border. Her family, including her father Parendra Das and mother Sanjita Rani Das, are in deep shock, fainting repeatedly from the tragedy. Sorna was the youngest of three brothers and two sisters. She was bright in her studies and a lively presence at her school. Her classmates are devastated by the premature loss. Sorna, an 8th-grade student at Nirod Bihari High School, had set out on Sunday night, September 1st, with her mother to cross the Lalarchak border in Sharifpur Union of Kulaura. Their destination was her maternal uncle’s house in Shanichhara village of Tripura. One of Sorna’s brothers had been living with their uncle Kartik Das’s family for a long time, and Sorna had longed to see her brother and visit her uncle’s home.
Sorna's father, Parendra Das, said that on Sunday morning, her mother and Sorna left home intending to go to India. By Monday morning, they had not yet arrived at their uncle’s house. After much searching, they managed to rescue Sorna’s mother from Shamshernagar with the help of a military officer. Later that Monday afternoon, the family was informed of Sorna's death through the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
Sorna’s mother, Sanjita Rani Das, recounted that they had fallen into the hands of traffickers near the border, who, along with another family from Chittagong, tried to push them into India. As they approached the border, the sound of gunfire rang out, and she collapsed to the ground. Her daughter’s body was riddled with bullets from the heartless BSF. After saying this, Sanjita Rani Das fainted again.
Local ward member of West Juri UP (Union Parishad), Madan Mohan Das, said, "She was a very gentle and well-mannered girl, admired throughout the village." Acting chairman of West Juri UP, Sirajul Islam, expressed, "Who gave them the right to shoot and kill? We do not support border killings. How many more bodies like Felani's will fall at the border? If India considers us a friend, they must stop this."
Sorna's classmates, Susmita, Purba, Banya, and Sipa, shared that she was good in her studies and active in sports. She was the life of the class. They wondered why the forces of a friendly country were so ruthless, their hearts not trembling even once as they fired.
Forty-five hours later, on Tuesday evening, Sorna’s body was handed over through the Chatlapur checkpoint by the BSF. Her last rites were performed on Wednesday.

In the Lalarchak border area of Kulaura, a 14-year-old girl named Swarna Das was killed by gunfire from the Indian Border Security Force (BSF). Two days after the incident, BSF returned the girl's body last evening. Lieutenant Colonel Mizanur Rahman Shikdar, the Sector Commander of BGB's Srimangal Sector, stated that a flag meeting between the company commanders of BSF and BGB was held on Monday afternoon at the Lalarchak border. Further legal action is being taken.
According to local sources, after the girl was killed by BSF's gunfire on Sunday night, her body remained at the Lalarchak border in Sharifpur Union until Monday afternoon, after which BSF took it away. Swarna, a resident of Kalnigor village in West Juri Union, was the daughter of Parendra Das. She was an eighth-grade student at the local Nirod Bihari High School.
Parendra Das and his wife, Sanjita Rani Das, said they have four children. One son has been living in Tripura, India, for a long time. Sanjita, along with her youngest daughter Swarna, attempted to cross into India illegally through the Lalarchak border with the help of two local smugglers to visit her son. A couple from Chittagong was also with them. Around 9 PM, when they reached the barbed wire fence at the Indian border, BSF opened fire indiscriminately, killing Swarna on the spot. The couple with them was also injured. After the gunfire stopped, Sanjita and the others took shelter in a house in Lalarchak village. The injured couple was later sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Swarna's father, Parendra Das, said that on Sunday, Swarna's mother left home with their daughter intending to go to India. On Monday, when he contacted relatives at Swarna's maternal uncle's house in India, he learned that they had not arrived. After searching for them, with the help of an army officer, he rescued Swarna's mother from a smuggler's house in Shamshernagar and brought her home. On Monday, he fully confirmed his daughter's death through BGB.
