Was für ein Schock 😱 Auf meinem Zweitgerät mit #Android9 zeigte #FDroid seit der neusten Version 1.23 bei den Apps nicht mehr den Punkt "Versionen" ganz unten an. Das ist für mich die wichtigste Information schlechthin. Beim #Android12 Handy war alles in Ordnung. Panik.

Ich installierte daraufhin #FDroid_Classic und finde die sogar deutlich angenehmer, als das Original. Deren neustes Design nach angeblichen Material-"Standard" ist einfach Mist.

Dann, wie im Krimi, schaute ich mal mit der Lupe hin. Der Menüpunkt ist noch da, allerdings UNTER der Android Bedienleiste. Weil die ganz leicht transparent ist, konnte ich ihn entdecken. Aktivieren geht jedoch nicht mehr. Insofern ist das gruselige Design zudem nutzlos für mich.

#SimpleMail is a slim alternative under #Android9, but it crashes under #Android12 and cannot be reactivated. The K-9 fork #mail from #monocles, which also offers other well-known apps, is a good replacement.

So my Pixel 3A XL is currently reverting from #Android11 to #android9 A necessary step before I flash with #ubuntutouch .

I wouldn't call this a simple process and not one I would wish to repeat in a hurry. I've used about 6 online guides to get this far, all of which have been helpful, but none of which told the whole story. #Upgrade2Ubuntu

On the one hand I really wouldn't mind a newer, more powerful phone, especially since this one is probably close to 3 years old now, and its battery isn't holding as much of a charge anymore either.

On the other hand this phone still works pretty well. The screen is still without cracks thanks to the #screenProtector I replace ASAP when it gets damaged. Fairly free of scratches due to a wallet cover.
It has #Android9 and runs just about any app still.
No idea when a new one would arrive…

@dredmorbius that's one of the reasons my most recent phone was the #Xiaomi #MiA1 (which essentially is the #Mi5X with #StockAndroid).

Since it is an #AndroidOne device, it came with the promise of frequent OTA updates till at least #Android9 (Pie), even though it was released with #Android7 (Nougat).

It likely won't see an official update to #Android10 (Q), but Xiaomi devices are generally well-supported in the ROM community.

Unfortunately the version I got in a #HumbleBundle a few years ago apparently hasn't been updated, and isn't fully compatible with #Android9 anymore, and thus isn't recognising playlists...

Might see what limitations that free version on the #PlayStore has, because I need some form of #gamification and #music to help me actually do that #exercise...

Avec le compte "invité" je peux donc prêter mon téléphone sans que la personne puisse accéder à mes applications, contacts, données, photos...

Et je peux même choisir ou non d'autoriser l'invité à utiliser la SIM pour téléphoner.

Super pratique pour dépanner quelqu'un en prêtant son téléphone sans pour autant mettre sa vie privée à poil.

the stupid thing is that even though I have no notch on my phone, stock #Android9 apparently decided that you shouldn't need to see more than 4-5 icons on either side regardless. I have a useless gap in my notification bar, even though there's no camera that needs that space...

@fedilab the auto-split preview doesn't work nicely with quick-reply yet.
If you click 'cancel', it will not only cancel the preview, but it will also close the quick-reply box, making you lose the entire post :(
I would suggest clicking 'cancel' will return you to the quick-reply box with the post untouched, and also to 'save' the post when the preview gets triggered, so you use the 'restore' function in case something goes wrong.

this still seems to be an issue btw, even with the editor disabled. Uploading multiple images simultaneously will only attach a single image (the most recent image, by the looks of it).
