I sometimes really do miss the #android7 days with #xposed and #xprivacy where I could just blockallthe apps from accessing firebase or other tracking crap. Wish we had that on modern #android

Was mich am meisten irritiert, ist die Tatsache, dass sich die Besucher im Vergleich zum vorherigen 30-Tage-Zeitraum bei #Windows7 fast verdoppelt haben. #Windows10 Besucher sind lediglich um 5% gestiegen. Und #Android7 Besucher haben sich um 0,26% erhöht. Wo kommen die ganzen Geräte her? Sind die Leute echt noch mit diesem Steinzeit-Standard jeden Tag online? Ich kann das gerade echt schwer glauben. 🤔

Bastel gerade und checke soeben schnell die Besuche meiner Webseite LinUSH.de und muss feststellen, dass mir mein Hoster anzeigt, dass ich in den letzten 30 Tagen 4.254 #Windows10 und tatsächlich noch 51 #Windows7 Besucher hatte. 🫣 Dazwischen noch Besucher von #macOS 10.15 und #Linux im Allgemeinen. Ach ja, #Android7.0 Nougat ist auch noch dabei. Alter Schwede. 🙈🤣

Samsung Cloud now requires at least Android 9

Samsung has recently posted a notice saying that they’re no longer supporting versions below Android 9 (One UI 1.0) when using Samsung Cloud. This is a service that lets you back up and restore data for all your devices signed in to your Samsung account.

While you can still use Samsung Cloud in an antique device running Android 8.0 (Samsung Experience 9.0) or lower, you will experience errors during usage. The company recommends that you perform all available phone updates, including Android upgrades, before being able to fully use the service again.

This aligns with the changed update policy for the Samsung Cloud service, which now requires at least the first version of One UI based on Android 9.0 to run smoothly.

To check for updates on your phone, go to Settings, navigate to Software Update, and tap on Download and Install. If there are updates, perform all available updates to make sure that your phone runs the latest version of Android available for your device. The latest software update that is currently being rolled out to supported devices is One UI 7 based on Android 15.

Android 7 will no longer support Samsung Members

Samsung has recently posted a notice saying that they’re planning to abandon support for Android 7 on Samsung Members. Starting from April 1st, this application now requires at least Android 8 if you want to continue using it. This is coming from a notice posted by Samsung regarding the operation of Samsung Members in Android 7 devices.

Samsung recommends that you update your phone to the latest and the greatest Android version, if possible. This is according to the updated service operation policy that will be in effect starting April 1st, 2025.

Kein #WhatsApp mehr auf einem 10 Jahre alten #iPhone?

Mich würde mal interessieren, wie es bei einem Samsung Galaxy S6 aussieht, das seit 2018 keine Sicherheitsupdates bekommen hat. Wird das S6 bzw. #Android7 noch von Meta bzw. WhatsApp unterstützt? Und kommt mir nicht mit Custom-ROMs, denn wir reden hier von normalen User*innen.

#Android 7's cat-collecting Easter Egg is objectively better than the Android 11 one and I wish that's what they did rather than what it ended up as. I like feeding #cats and seeing the plate be empty. Thus, I only like Android 7 and (with a dark theme via Substratum [remember that?]) Android 8. Ran both of them on my Nokia 6, but I liked 7 more because it had cats.

@dredmorbius that's one of the reasons my most recent phone was the #Xiaomi #MiA1 (which essentially is the #Mi5X with #StockAndroid).

Since it is an #AndroidOne device, it came with the promise of frequent OTA updates till at least #Android9 (Pie), even though it was released with #Android7 (Nougat).

It likely won't see an official update to #Android10 (Q), but Xiaomi devices are generally well-supported in the ROM community.

Finally got #Android7 on my #FairPhone2 today. Compared to android 6, it generally feels snappier and the UI feels fresher and "improved" even though it's mostly a few parts shuffled around and a few details added here and there.
