  3. Cot chilly last night, so I went a bit hobbit / academia to keep warm whilst reading. And had to close the windows overnight. Boo! This morning I layered up, including a kinda fun faux leather jacket that … um, is way too small to close? But, like, maybe it is supposed to be that way? idek!

  4. It was windy and chilly. I had too light a jacket on initially and I had to go back to wear something warmer,

  9. Good morning you lovely lot 💕 I'm up early with the parrots today on a chilly Saturday morning (just 2 degrees C apparently). We're all tucked up in the warm living room though, nice and sleepy cozy 😊

    Ziggy is tucked up in my hand grumbling away and Toby is throwing food out of his bowl with gusto. By "food" I mean vegetables. Fruit and pellets are munched happily. All of my parrots are like children when it comes to vegetables, but it doesn't stop me giving it to them 😁 We used to do chop, but it was just a total waste and I read it wasn't great for Eclectus, so we now steam all the veg instead. A lot of it still gets 'fwown to the fwower", but they do nibble on bits of it at least.

    I have been instructed that it is "Come! Come!" time so I'm off to sort out Ziggy's meds and take her for brekkie thereafter.

    Plans for today are more work on the final crochet order, which I hope to finish. I'm watching people play Stardew Valley again, because it makes me happy 😊

    Have a very lovely day, whatever you get up to 🤗

    Sherrill also referred to comments Republican U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson made in which he said he “wouldn’t be watching” the livestream “if it was aired.”

    “Well, who gives a sh*t?” Sherrill asked. “You know, what about our kids? We know what they get access to online. This is offensive and wrong, and the U.S. should just not be at all partaking in this.”

  16. pls halp with CSS #css

    Let’s say I have a DOM structure with .node containers that contain a mix of other such containers and .leaf text items. The text is colored black by default, but for the outermost and innermost containers, I want to make the text that they directly contain red. So:

    .node > .leaf { color: red; }
    .node .node > .leaf { color: unset; }
    .node:not(:has(.node)) > .leaf { color: red; }

    Question 1: Already, is there a better way to achieve this? I am open to changing the DOM structure if needed!

    Okay, now I want to add .special to some of the containers to make their directly contained .leaf text green, no matter where they appear in the tree. My first attempt is just to add the following rule:

    .node.special > .leaf { color: green; }

    Which works, but only because it appears after the original set of rules. My CSS intuition says that this is a code smell: CSS is meant to be declarative, and if I start depending on order, I’m going to run into trouble as my stylesheet grows. (Question 2: Is this the right intuition?) Let’s try rephrasing to depend purely on specificity:

    .node > .leaf { color: red; }
    .node :where(.node) > .leaf { color: unset; }
    .node:where(:not(:has(.node))) > .leaf { color: red; }
    .node.special > .leaf { color: green; }

    That looks kind of complicated. There’s a :where(.node) all by itself, which is not something I’ve seen in specs or tutorials. [edit: Also, order still matters, now between rules 2 and 3…] Question 3: Is this the ‘right’ way to use :where and other CSS features to achieve my goals?
