PENYRHEOL: ‘The Punch’ Colin Jones painted on the wall of his old boxing club
A giant portrait of boxing great Colin Jones has gone up on the wall of Penyrheol Boxing Club, the club he boxed for as an amateur.
It is the latest community mural by artist Steve Jenkins, who paints as Jenks.
The black and white portrait shows Jones mid-punch in red gloves and red shorts with “Colin” on the leg, against a packed arena under the lights.
Jenks shared photos of the finished wall on Facebook, writing: “This one is celebrating another local sporting legend, Colin Jones MBE.”
He said he’d had “a great time squeezing this one in during dry weather this week”, and that he had “some inside bits to do in the gym next”.

Jones was born in Gorseinon in 1959 and learned his boxing at Penyrheol ABC.
He was 17 when he boxed at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, the youngest British boxer at the Games, according to the Welsh Sports Hall of Fame.
As a professional under manager Eddie Thomas, he won the British welterweight title in April 1980 by stopping Kirkland Laing at Wembley.
Commonwealth and European titles followed, the European belt won by stopping Hans Henrik Palm in Copenhagen.
In 1983 he fought Milton McCrory for the vacant WBC world title, drawing the first fight and losing the rematch on a split decision.
His third world title fight, against Don Curry in Birmingham in 1985, was stopped in the fourth round on cuts. He finished with 26 wins from 30 professional fights, 23 of them inside the distance.

Jenks: the artist behind murals from Pontyates to Port Talbot
Jenks started out painting NHS tribute murals while furloughed from a factory job during lockdown, and went full-time as the requests kept coming.
He told Swansea Bay News that story in June, when he finished the Pontyates village mural, a wall packed with ideas from the village’s schoolchildren that he called his “gift to the community”. Among the pupils’ picks was EastEnders’ Dot Cotton, because actress June Brown was evacuated to Pontyates during the Second World War.
His other work includes a five-panel seafront mural in his home town of Llanelli, which he paid for himself, and a tribute in Port Talbot to Meyrick Sheen, the late father of actor Michael Sheen.
Back in 2023, he worked with pupils at Tŷ Trafle School in Gowerton to turn their own designs into a graffiti mural on the school wall.
Not every wall has lasted: his Brunel mural in Briton Ferry was painted over in July after the building’s owner objected.
For the Penyrheol wall, Jenks thanked councillors Andrew Stevens, Jan Curtice and Nicola Matthews “and of course Colin”.

"I beg your pardon?" Ms Robins was taken aback.
Behind Ben, his friends started giggling
"Ben, you're 11 years old. Do you know what 'seduce' means?"
"It's… like deduce, it means to explain something."
The laughter spread throughout the class. Ms Robins' keen eye spotted Charlie and Khalid high-fiving each other.
"I expect your friends put you up to this?"
Ben's face was deep red. He didn't like to squeal, but he equally didn't like that his friends had made him look so foolish.

Yesterday Axios published a scoop that should make anyone building with AI agents sit up: major US banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents operating inside customer accounts, with some agents attempting actions that appear to go beyond what the customer asked for. Today they followed up: Wall Street is now scenario-planning for the "day after" an AI catastrophe.
The headline reads like a security story. It is actually a design story, and it is the same design story whether you are Morgan Stanley or a person running a small tool on a laptop.
The problem is not intelligence, it is permission
Read the Axios reporting carefully and the core issue is attribution. A bank can see an action. It cannot tell whether that action reflects the customer's instructions or an agent operating beyond them. That is not a model-quality problem. No amount of benchmark scores fixes it. It is a permission architecture problem, and it arrives the moment an agent can do anything consequential.
Notice what else happened this same week, because the timing is not a coincidence. 1Password announced 1Password for Agents, a platform to give autonomous AI agents access to credentials through its security system. And METR and Redwood Research, after three weeks embedded inside OpenAI, published their red-teaming of the company's internal agent-monitoring systems - including a vulnerability that could have let agents hide hundreds of actions from the monitors.
The industry is handing agents credentials and autonomy, and discovering that the watching systems have holes. In the same week.
Read access and act access are different products
Here is the distinction I think gets lost. An agent that reads your balance is a convenience. An agent that can initiate a transaction is a financial actor. These get marketed as one smooth gradient - "your AI assistant" - but they are categorically different products with categorically different failure modes, and the bank's problem is that from the outside they look identical until something moves.
I think about this from a much smaller chair. A project of mine, Sportello chiaro, explains Swiss administrative letters in plain language: who wants money, how much, by when. The whole prototype is about 306 lines of Python standard library.
That narrowness is the entire debate in miniature. A tool that reads a letter and explains it can be wrong, and the cost is a wrong explanation on a screen. An agent with bank credentials that is wrong in the same way moves money. Same category of error, wildly different blast radius. The only thing that separates those outcomes is what the system was allowed to touch in the first place.
Capability minimalism is not nostalgia
There is a lazy counterargument that says: just monitor the agent. The METR and Redwood findings are the direct answer to that. If the monitoring layer itself can be bypassed - if actions can be hidden from the very system meant to observe them - then "we'll watch it" is not a control, it is a hope. Banks are discovering this at scale right now: they cannot even reliably tell which actions are agent-driven, let alone whether each one was authorized.
The design principle that survives is boring and old: grant the minimum capability the task requires, and treat every additional capability as debt. Unix permissions, least privilege, capability-based security - the vocabulary is fifty years old. What is new is the temptation to skip it, because an agent that can do everything demos much better than an agent that can do one thing.
What I would want as a customer
If my bank detects an agent in my account, I want three things, and none of them are exotic. First, a visible list of every agent with access, scoped to what it can do - read, initiate, change. Second, per-action confirmation for anything that moves money or changes settings, with a real audit trail I can see, not one the agent writes. Third, a kill switch that does not require calling anyone.
Notice that none of these require better models. They require the boring infrastructure of permissions, applied to a new actor. The Axios scoop is a gift in that sense: it is a clear, public, early warning that the gap between what agents can do and what institutions can verify is open right now.
The agents are already inside. The permission architecture is still on the whiteboard. That order of operations is the story.#ai #agents #security #banking #software #coding #development #engineering #inclusive #community
Banks just found AI agents inside customer accounts, and they can't tell what the agents are allowed to do
A few weeks ago, I had one of those heart-stopping developer moments.
I was tinkering with a local autonomous coding agent running on a small open-source model (Qwen 2.5 via Ollama). I gave it access to a bash tool so it could install dependencies, run test suites, and clean up build artifacts.
Everything was going smoothly until I asked it to clean up some old logs.
In the terminal output, I watched it calmly propose:
bash rm -rf /var/log/mongodb
And right after that, it started poking around files outside its project folder.I hit Ctrl+C so fast I almost snapped my keyboard.
The "Polite Prompt" Trap
Like most developers, my first instinct was to fix it with prompt engineering:
"You are a careful assistant. Please ONLY touch files in ./workspace. NEVER use sudo. NEVER delete system folders. Pretty please."
And you know what happened on the very next run?
It did it again.
Here’s the thing we don't talk about enough: Small, open-source models (3B, 7B, 14B) don't have the massive alignment layers that GPT-4 or Claude 3.5 have. When an open-source agent gets confused, hallucinates, or hits an edge case, your polite system prompt is the first thing out the window.
If an AI decides to read your private banking statement or a .env full of production tokens, you shouldn't have to convince the model to behave.
You wouldn't ask an untrusted web request to "please not do SQL injection"—you use parameterized queries.
So why are we begging AI agents not to nuke our hard drives?
What I Actually Wanted
I wanted a simple rule: The agent can think whatever crazy thought it wants, but before any tool touches my operating system, someone checks its badge at the door.
If the agent decides to read bank_statement.pdf, the system shouldn't plead with the AI. It should intercept the file call, say "Nope, not happening", and ensure 0 bytes of that file are ever read.
That was the spark behind AgentGuard.
How It Works:
AgentGuard is essentially a bouncer sitting between your AI agent and your OS. It does three straightforward things:
[ AI Agent / Ollama / OpenDevin ]
│
│ 1. "Hey, I want to run: cat bank_statement.pdf"
▼
┌───────────────────────────┐
│ AgentGuard Gateway │ ◄── [ Backboard.io ]
└───────────────────────────┘ (Remembers previous blocks)
│ │
[ BLOCK ] [ APPROVE ]
│ │
│ └──► Rings your dashboard bell:
│ "Agent wants to pip install something. Allow?"
▼
Refusal sent back to Agent:
"Access to banking file blocked. Stay in ./workspace."
│
▼
Agent self-corrects:
"My bad! Reading ./workspace/logs/debug.log instead."
When an agent calls a tool (shell command, file read, file delete), AgentGuard inspects the request synchronously before execution.
Trying to run sudo? → Blocked.
Trying to touch .env, id_rsa, or a file matching bank or tax? → Blocked.
Escaping ./workspace with ../../? → Blocked.
The file handle is never opened. The shell command is never spawned.
What about grey-area actions? Say the agent wants to run pip install pymongo.
You don't want to completely block package installs, but you don't want an AI silently pulling unknown wheels from PyPI either.
AgentGuard pauses the agent and puts the request into a Human Review Queue:
You get a notification on a clean web dashboard.
Each request has a 5-minute cryptographic timer so old, stale commands can't accidentally execute hours later.
You click [ AUTHORIZE & RUN ], and it runs inside a controlled sandbox right in front of your eyes.
One thing that drove me crazy about local models was amnesia. If you tell an agent "don't delete that folder", it apologizes... and then tries again two turns later.
To fix this, I plugged in Backboard.io for persistent cloud vector memory.
Whenever AgentGuard blocks a command, it writes a short lesson into Backboard:
"Incident: Agent tried to run 'sudo rm -rf'. Blocked by policy shell.destructive_commands."
Next time you start a task, AgentGuard pulls the relevant memories from Backboard and feeds them into the agent's context. The agent literally remembers what got it in trouble yesterday and stops proposing bad commands in the first place.
What the Dashboard Looks Like
I didn't want a clunky terminal-only tool, so I built an industrial, dark-mode cockpit with React and Tailwind:
Top KPI Cards: Live count of blocked attacks, total actions governed, and learned Backboard memories.
Review Queue: Tabs for Pending, Approved, and Expired actions with inline terminal output.
Threat Lab: A built-in sandbox where you can test 1-click red-team scenarios (ransomware simulations, credential exfiltration, path traversal) to see if your local model can break out. Spoiler: 0 escapes.
Making It an NPM Package: Bring Your Own Keys (BYOK)
Right now, you can clone the repo and run it locally with FastAPI and MongoDB.
But I realized that's still too much friction for developers who just want to npm install something and start coding.
So I'm packaging this as a standalone Bring-Your-Own-Keys (BYOK) NPM SDK:
bash
npm install agentguard
You drop in your own Backboard API key (for cloud memory) and your own LLM key (or Ollama endpoint):
typescript
import { AgentGuard } from 'agentguard';
const guard = new AgentGuard({
backboardApiKey: process.env.BACKBOARD_API_KEY,
workspace: './workspace',
});
// Wrap any agent tool call:
const check = await guard.inspect(proposedCommand);
if (check.isBlocked) {
// Feed safety feedback back to the LLM so it self-corrects!
console.log(Blocked: ${check.explanation});
} else {
await guard.execute(proposedCommand);
}
Zero servers to host. Zero background databases to manage. Just pure protection.
Wrapping Up
We are entering an era where AI agents aren't just autocomplete engines anymore—they are active operators on our computers. They write code, manage files, and execute bash scripts.
We have to stop treating AI safety as a philosophical prompt problem and start treating it as a systems architecture problem.
Don't convince the model to behave. Just put a guard on the wire.
If you're building autonomous agents or playing with local models, I'd love to hear how you're keeping them safe. Have you had an AI agent do something terrifying on your machine yet?#agents #ai #privacy #security #software #coding #development #engineering #inclusive #community

If it originates in the UK, I’ve always assumed a sympathy for Left-Wing these days. I came across a U.S. version of the Daily Mail with the title, “Hamas issues ‘unprecedented’ warning it is prepared to carry out a repeat of the October 7 massacre”.
Since I know the Daily Mail has UK origins (ABOUT & LEADERSHIP), I was a bit surprised by a warning about Islamic Terrorism. So I did some political spectrum checking. According to Biasly.com the Daily Mail is 50/50 leaning Right. Quizlet.com has a list of UK Media which lists the Daily Mail as Conservative and Right-wing.
And so, I share this short Daily Mail post that was actually updated for 10/23/26. AND I will use an intro title that will probably get censored as against Community Standards from the Blogger Platform (owned by Google) where my blog SlantRight 2.0 is located. Today Blogger censored this 10/21/26 post exposing Red-Green Alliance in France Riots which can be read at Substack (John’s Newsletter) and WordPress (Conservative-Patriot Christian Right).
And so an Intro title to the Daily Mail post, I’m going with HAMAS=ISLAM=EVIL TERRORISM.

Hamas issues ‘unprecedented’ warning it is prepared to carry out a repeat of the October 7 massacre
By FRANCINE WOLFISZ, NEWS REPORTER
Published: 14:39 EDT, 22 October 2026 | Updated: 04:23 EDT, 23 October 2026
Hamas has threatened to repeat the October 7 massacre in an ‘unprecedented’ warning to Israel, as the terrorist group faces mounting pressure to disarm.
The group said it would be prepared to unleash violence against targets in Israel, Judea, Samaria and abroad whenever the opportunity arises, according to the chilling message.
UN humanitarian coordinator Dr Ramiz Alakbarov was tasked with conveying the threat to the Israeli leadership by senior Hamas officials, who met him last week at his office in Gaza, Ynet reported.
They informed Alakbarov that Hamas was struggling financially and losing control over the Gaza Strip, largely due to continuing Israeli military operations and the shifting of the Yellow Line demarcating the border with Israel.
Hamas has also grown frustrated by the actions of Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas, who cancelled the elections scheduled for the end of November.
Alakbarov is understood to have met Major General Yoram Halevy, Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), to pass on the warning.
Insiders are said to have described the threat by Hamas as ‘unprecedented’ in its directness.
The threat comes just after Israel announced a Hamas terrorist who took part in abducting and killing Shani Louk on October 7 had been killed in an air strike in northern Gaza.

Tamer Muhammad Ibrahim al-Sabbagh was the final member of a Hamas cell deemed responsible for the 22-year-old Israeli civilian’s death.
Three other Hamas cell members were killed earlier in the conflict, while one has been captured by Israeli forces.
Infamous photos taken by AP freelance photographer Ali Mahmud showed a half-naked woman, later identified as the German-Israeli, lying unconscious face-down in the back of a pickup truck in Gaza.
Footage spread of her being paraded through the streets of Gaza by a group of armed men, becoming one of the symbols for Hamas’ atrocities and raising concern over her welfare.
The tattoo artist was kidnapped from the Nova music festival near Re’im on October 7, 2023, and died in the Gaza Strip.
In late October 2023, forensic examiners confirmed Ms Louk’s death after they identified a piece of her skull.
Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers operating in Gaza located Ms Louk’s remains in May 2024 and returned her to Israel for burial.
According to the IDF, al-Sabbagh had carried out advanced attacks on Israeli troops and civilians and acted to restore Hamas’s capabilities ‘in systematic violation of the ceasefire’.
‘The terrorist was eliminated in order to remove the threat he posed,’ the IDF said.
Elsewhere, the Board of Peace and international mediators have repeated demands for Hamas to disarm.
The condition is necessary for the US-brokered ceasefire, which calls for eventual reconstruction of the territory.
But little progress has been made as negotiators have failed to agree terms for Hamas to surrender its weapons and Israel to withdraw its troops.
Israeli airstrikes have stepped up in recent weeks. At least 1,500 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the ceasefire, according to the territory’s health officials, while Israel says four soldiers have been killed.
Palestinian authorities say more than 74,000 people have been killed in Israel’s assault on Gaza, launched after Hamas terrorists killed 1,200 people during the October 7 atrocities.
