  1. Scientists have implanted electronic meshes into the developing brains of frogs, mice, and salamanders, creating #cyborg #embryos. They hope to one day help study and treat neurodevelopmental conditions in children. spectrum.ieee.org/embryo-elect...

  2. I started a little series of drawings of Primarchs in the traditional clothing of their adopted homeworlds.

First two were Vulkan and Lorgar. I was asked to do Curze and Lion, too. But also kind of want to do Fulgrim with some Ruhrgebiets-chic.

  3. I started working on Vulkan and his base.
The Primarch of the Eighteenth isn't glued to the base, yet. I will paint him (and his drakescale cloak, not pictured) separately.

But that's how the landscape will look.

I am unsure about how I will balance green and gold in his armour. Maybe inspiration will strike today, so I can start the metal parts tomorrow. 😊

  4. More nocturnean animals.

Have you ever heard of the Flying Dragon Lizard? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draco_vo

On Nocturne little guys like these fill the biological niche of butterflies!

    They really love Vulkan.

  5. #HappyNewYear from me and this itty bitty arboreal #salamander!

When full-grown, this lil' tyke will be 6 to 7 inches long with powerful jaws. Square toes make them GREAT climbers, and they like to get into trees to hunt. Fierce!

  6. You’d think with all the wildlife I have at my house, Red Efts would be a common occurrence. They aren’t. I have yet to see one (and let’s face it, they aren’t hard to see 😅) here at the house or in the neighboring forests for miles.

I was several towns away when I finally came across this one. (You can tell it was happy for the photo op as it just sat there as they’re prone to do.)

  10. 🥾 We hiked past a water impoundment that is usually disruptive to a mountaintop environment, but this one was full of salamanders!

🦎 These amphibians prefer cold, clean, running water as in pristine streams. This pond had to be relatively undisturbed.

📷 I stayed still and got a pic of a Spotted Salamander as it floated into a sunny spot. Love the orange spots!

  11. Last night we saw:
    -1 northern spring salamander
    -3 four-toed salamanders
    -a couple bull frogs
    -a few green frogs
    -dozens of spotted salamanders
    -lots of wood frogs
-so many spring peepers (one shown in image)

I also didn't realize (or forgot) spring salamanders can stay in a larval stage with external gills for 4 years, so that was a confusing find.

  15. Things I came across this weekend in no particular order: #salamanders in the dirt, overheard conversations about book preferences, lemon meringue #frenchtoast, time off together with my husband, new tv shows, overgrown privet, fabric samples, grocery delivery, too much #salmon "Dopamine (split brain version)" by Madelline (listen with headphones). youtu.be/YMYqvPHLjjM?si=h4QM1u

  17. An axolotl. Axolotls are having a moment – our passion for these cute little salamanders means they are everywhere online but vanishingly rare in the wild, where the species is under increasing threat.
