Wintersweet (chimonanthus praecox) reliably flowers in January in my part of Scotland, and now in December, the buds are fat and promising. To me the scent is like hyacinths. I love its flowers' shredded petals and deep red centres.

Today for you I have honesty, lunaria annua, which is actually biennial; I can see where there are seedlings around the garden and if they're small enough I can move them in fall or winter. It's one of the tallest things to flower in the garden in spring. This was taken last April in my garden in Scotland.
