  1. So as part of a personal #project to make A Thing, I needed to make a component Sub-Thing. And I couldn't think of a good way to do it. Part of it involved 3D-printing, but there was something else needed, and I wasn't sure what I could use to do that part of it.

And after a few days, my brain (which works by batch jobs, for weird research requests like this) said "Hey, remember that episode of How It's Made that showed a jeweller doing enamelling? Something like that might work."

So I just did it for the first time, and damn if it doesn't work. It turned out about 90% success, with a few minor blemishes here and there, and I'm certain I can do better on my next try.

How It's Made is a Canadian national treasure.

  6. Twentyish years ago, I was studying to be a jeweller. I ended up leaving the program because I realized this was not the career I wanted, but I still enjoyed making things. I did a series of rings based on vagina dentata. Here’s one of them. #VaginaDentata #ring #silver #jeweller #jewellery #jewelry #JewelryMaking #IndigenousCreatives

  7. Viking garb I made back in 2011. I forged the bracelet from copper, made the chain for the Centre drape, tablet-wove the belt, and hand-crocheted the laces. Sewed the tunic, apron dress, and cap, too. The wimple is a repurposed dupatta. The maille circlet was made by my husband. #Viking #Costumer #VikingGarb #MedievalClothing #Jeweller #Garb #CostumeDesign

  8. for #followbackfriday I’m doing a quick intro:
I’m a #jeweller and #silversmith running my own small business selling my designs
    I’m #lgbt specifically #gay #asexual cis-male and I use he/him pronouns
    I like #coffee #craft #knitting and #spinning yarn as well as #music - I play some #piano and am a bit of a #composer doing my MA in music part-time. Proud #remainer #rejoiner with #progressivepolitics

  9. Now I’m a couple of days in I thought I’d introduce myself a bit more. I’m a studio #jeweller handcrafting pieces from my #Leicestershire studio. #Nature, in particular #lichens, inspire my work, so I’m often out #walking & #photographing for further research, with studio dog by my side! When I’m not in the studio, I’m #gardening (I love #dahlias & have an ever growing collection), #rowing & occasionally #outdoorswimmming!
