  1. #Cornus nuttallii, Pacific dogwood. It's been an exceptionally dry and hot spring and most of the flowers are toasted - they actually look burned. It's kind of distressing to see.

  2. #Cornus nuttallii, the Pacific dogwood. The inflorescence consists of 4-6 large white bracts, the showiest part, and the globular cluster of tiny pale yellow flowers in the center. If spiders or bees trigger you, avoid the second pair of photos.

  3. So here's the expensive, disease-resistant, red-bracted dogwood (Cornus kousa 'Scarlet Fire') I planted this spring. The nursery guy said the leaf chlorosis is due to lack of micronutrients so we'll see whether it snaps back after a few drenches of those. Fingers crossed. #dogwood #cornus #bracts #disease #rutgers #trees #fertilizer #leaves

  4. My neighbor's dogwood after some rain. The red structures are bracts, leaves modified to function as petals for the drab inflorescence within. #dogwood #flowers #trees #petals #bracts #botany #rain #water #cornus #pollination

I'd go for some kind of #Dogwood. (#Cornus)

Berries can differ wildly with these.

If they are white in this case, its probably #CornusSericea.

Hard to tell in a (beautiful) bw pic.

  6. Have spent today whole day in the garden - dividing and re-planting the seedlings of Echinacea and Pulsatilla vulgaris. But would like to show Cornus kousa, which starts to bloom. Have collected the seeds in Switzerland ~ 12 years ago, it started to bloom after 10 years. Was worth to wait. :)

  7. Two favourites looking stunning in flower in the garden, a Cornus (unknown variety) and Viburnum 'Kilimanjaro'. #Viburnum #cornus #flower #garden

  8. It's my newest , a seedling that's flowering for the first time. It's clashing with the cornus behind, but I don't mind.

  9. Trying the classic trick of winter red #cornus stems against dark background here in #bugey #france. Dodgy because it’s so dry here. Only 1100mm rain a year. However wild cornus abound so I thought I’d give it a shot. I planted these last spring and I think it’s working. The #boar keep digging them up though. Sigh. Battle. #Gardening.

  10. Today I have for you the joyous iris reticulata with the stems of cornus alba Sibirica. I took this picture on the 26th of February last year. My big goal with developing the new, "winter" part of the garden is to get this kind of colour early in February, January if I can manage it.
