  1. Fedora Pocketblue Remix is an atomic Linux distro for mobile devices (phones and tablets)

Fedora Pocketblue Remix is a mobile Linux distribution designed to let you run Fedora on a smartphone or tablet. But unlike most mobile Linux distros, Pocketblue is an atomic distro.

In a nutshell, that means it’s an operating system that’s harder to break because of the way updates are installed. Basically, new package updates are either fully installed or not installed at all – if something […]

  2. 2/ Side note for users of :

6.12 is now available for all Fedora releases in the "stable" of my vanilla repositories.

For install instructions, see copr.fedorainfracloud.org/copr and fedoraproject.org/wiki/Kernel_

In addition to the regular kernel package that copr as of today started shipping a dedicated kernel which has enabled. Install it by running:

    $ sudo dnf install kernel-rt

  3. 🥳 My #kernel vanilla repositories for #Fedora #Linux[1] started shipping[2] kernels with #realtime aka #PREEMPT_RT support. 🥳

[2] 6.12-pre and later only obviously, as the latest stable series does not support it out-of-the-box

trae , mientras que la v43 trae . Entonces, al actualizar el SO, todo peta, porque no puedes usar `postgresql-setup --upgrade`, ya que tu cluster es v16 y el upgrade sólo sirve de v17 a v18.

  11. As I do usually with the beta release of the next #Fedora version, I upgraded my tests #fedora VMs from #fedora42 to #fedora43 beta.

The upgrade went fine for the Workstation edition.

The upgrade didn’t go well at all for the #silverblue edition. Encountered an issue with a change in the PAM configuration: discussion.fedoraproject.org/t
Did anyone else encountered this issue ?

If you're familiar with Fedora Atomic Desktops, then these editions will not seem so different aside from the server use case.

Both test days are running from today, Oct 7 to Friday, Oct 11.

  19. does anyone knows what's the root cause of this issue/bug ? I've had the exact same problems and I suspect it's because of my wi-fi card drivers / 6.4 kernels and onwards

basically: frequent wifi disconnects, complete unrecoverable system crashes during high network activity, and no sysrq responses afterwards. logs say nothing

I was asking about a preset, though.

Disabling is definitely insufficient, because usually installation/upgrade scripts reset the enable/disable state to whatever is preset, and sometimes the default preset state in turn is to be enabled.

On #Fedora, #firewalld is explicitly preset to enabled in 90-default.preset because it is a 'default service'. You need to counter this with a higher-priority-than-90 preset that disables it.

  21. In January 2020 Microsoft will drop supporting Windows 7. This can be a chance to bring people to Linux!
I mean many people still use Windows 7 and did not upgrade and likely don't want to upgrade to Windows 8 or 10…

Due to the lack of a real cross-distro discussion platform I've written up some ideas here, now:

  22. I still hold my preference for #ZorinOS for PC newcomers, #Bazzite for gamers, and #LinuxMint for Windows refugees.

For people needing for something rock solid and stable like a rock, #VanillaOS.

For those who want Linux on hardware released last month, #Fedora (personally, I prefer #Bluefin or #Aurora).

  25. Fedora's elections are now open until Wednesday, 7th January!

I'm applying for a seat at FESCo [1] as I want to represent the interests of users, developers and maintainers of what we call Atomic, Bootable Container, Image Based or Immutable variants of Fedora (CoreOS, Atomic Desktops, IoT, bootc, etc.).
