  1. I realize everyone is tired of hearing about AI every other minute, but I wanted to share a small project that I started on the side - an MCP server for Copr. It can create projects, build packages, etc.

    youtube.com/watch?v=3gYktJT-Cr0

It is still in an early stage of development, but I wanted to know what you think.

  2. @jonathanspw @almalinux Thanks, ok, #copr I was exploring for a broken #FreeCAD build last year, so that might be something for the holiday then. Thanks again.

  3. Just a FYI: If you use Fedora and using Wezterm, the latest version of wezterm from COPR is an empty package due to some buggy spec change; you have to install wezterm-gui and wezterm-mux-server to make it actually installed

there is already an issue created here that you can follow:
    https://github.com/wezterm/wezterm/issues/7502

  4. 256k packages were downloaded from my #Linux #kernel vanilla #copr repositories[1] for #Fedora Linux 41 during its lifetime, which ends today, as it becomes EOL.

That's ~30k more than for Fedora 39, and 20k less than Fedora 40[2].

    [1] fedoraproject.org/wiki/Kernel_

[2] I guess is due to a subpackage being separated and thus not shipped in my coprs anymore

  5. Either someone found the vanilla #linux-next builds fpr #s390x useful, which I enabled a few days ago in my #Fedora Linux #copr[1] – or it was just some AI crawler that made the number in the download stats go up from 0 to 32. 🤷

These days you never know. #moderntimes #kernel #LinuxKernel

  6. That being said, my god... I thought #COPR had connection issues, but the #AUR is struggling even worse.

I'm guessing they still need to scale. Maybe #Valve can throw some more dosh their way.

  7. @[email protected] @[email protected]

Amazing! The #Fedora #COPR is one way to try it, even on #AtomicDesktops like #uBlue

Some things that come to my mind:
    - adjustable size
    - padding to left/right so it doesnt take up all the screen
    - nice show/hide functionality with a button, swiping, dynamically
    - functional keys (Ctrl, Alt, Super, Arrows, Fn keys, ...)

  8. Woo! Grateful for the #Fedora #COPR repos! I know installing things from third party repos willy nilly is a bad idea, but I was having trouble figuring out how to install the #wezterm I'd build from source (You can't really set cargo run --bin wezterm as your default Terminal Emulator!) and I was happy to see that I could just dnf install it with desktop integration and all the bells and whistles in place.

  9. @cgwalters we started using bootc images for Copr builders and so far everything works great.

  10. Updated to the latest version in my repository for @fedora :

TaskJuggler is an Open Source project management tool. It's full of great features---scheduling, resource allocation, gannt charts, reports and reporting, all of it. See the documentation here: taskjuggler.org/documentation.

I use it to manage all my work projects, and it's a real boon. Give it a go!

  11. Syslog-ng also thrives on IBM . When it comes to Enterprise Linux (or compatible), my packages are built on @fedora :

  12. How often do you check what's available in our Copr repos? While you should check with trepidation, there are still some cool projects to check out.

We're highlighting Spotify Qt, Ghostty, Zen Browser, and LACT!

  13. Why is it so hard, in the year 2025, to convert a large Ruby (or Python, or Node) project into a repo of deb/rpm packages? Why can't I install the project into a fakeroot or Docker image and have some util convert all of the installed gems/pips/npms into a repo of deb/rpm specs that I can then host?

    #debian #ppa #rpm #copr

  14. Can anyone answer this question I have about Fedora?
I'm thinking of using Fedora 41 for music production (as well as the usual desktop stuff). In order to install several audio effects plugins it looks like I will have to add a music-focussed COPR repo.
What's the likelihood of my system becoming wobbly by adding COPR repo/s and is there anything I do to prevent it?

  15. 2/ Side note for users of :

6.12 is now available for all Fedora releases in the "stable" of my vanilla repositories.

For install instructions, see copr.fedorainfracloud.org/copr and fedoraproject.org/wiki/Kernel_

In addition to the regular kernel package that copr as of today started shipping a dedicated kernel which has enabled. Install it by running:

    $ sudo dnf install kernel-rt

  16. Also, with the release of wslu 4.1.4, we have updated the supported versions:

    - CentOS Stream 9/10
    - EPEL 8-10
    - Fedora 39-41
    - RHEL 8-9

All of them support both arm64 and amd64 architecture except RHEL 8 since it seems to be broken.

  18. Wow! We disabled 7 support in syslog-ng beginning this year. Today I realized that @fedora still has 6 packages :-) They will be deleted in 122 days. The last syslog-ng version supporting 6 was 3.26. Mirror it if you still need it anywhere! I'll not...

  19. Finally found someone that officially maintains their own Fedora/EPEL releases in a Copr repo and even recommends installing from there \o/

  20. I've updated my Hare COPR to have the latest QBE commits and 0.24.2-rc1 builds of hare and harec. Available for Fedora 39+ and EPEL 9:

    $ dnf copr enable mroche/hare
    $ dnf install hare

If you have previous iterations of the packages you may need to run some dnf swaps, but there should not be any glaring issues. Let me know if you run into anything pesky!

  25. Users of @fedora: I will be removing from the list of buildroots used in my cloud tools this evening (2024.05.14). Today is the release's EOL date, please migrate to or ASAP!

  29. @fedoracpt

Does anyone now get #Fedora Messaging Notifications (#FMN) from #copr?

There was something wrong with them, but @abompard thankfully tried to fix that after an inquiry on matrix: github.com/fedora-copr/copr/pu

But from testing it seems things are still broken even for the default case[1]. But I wonder if maybe my testing was flawed…

  30. As a reminder, @fedora 37 is going EOL tomorrow, December 5th!

Please make sure to upgrade to either Fedora 38 or Fedora 39 to stay on a supported version!

Alongside this, I will also be disabling the Fedora 37 build roots for any COPR project I run.

  35. Today I learned the usefulness of . It wasn't completely necessary, "git filter-branch" could achieve the same results by other means, but subtree just made it so much easier.

I've broken up my 's cloud-native-utilities repo into their own distinct repos on . The process was actually pretty straightfoward!
