  1. At the same time, managing three Macs is becoming a bit burdensome.

    After 15 years, I switched away from #iTerm2 and towards #WezTerm which allows hot-reloaded dotfiles-style configuration.

    Together with #GnuStow, a simple `git pull` is enough, and the terminal is in sync!

    Really love this, and feel like more apps should offer this kind of configuration (at least developer tools). Synchronizing plist preferences is a pain.

  2. RE: fosstodon.org/@atoponce/116291

    I was today years old, when I got to know about the difference between "vertical split" meaning in #vim and #tmux or #wezTerm

  3. There’s life beyond VSCode… thought I’d share my dev setup:

    • Main monitor: WezTerm¹ running in a three (sometimes four)-way split with Helix Editor² as my main editor, a terminal pane for general commands while working, and Yazi³ usually running in another for working with files/directories in a project.

    • Other monitor: Sublime Merge⁴ always running full-screen so I can immediately see exactly what I’ve changed (in real time) as I’m working.

    Others (not shown): Browser(s) on a third screen and my laptop’s monitor as a fourth screen sometimes for other apps (read: distractions) :)

  8. I think I am most content with a tiling window manager and no bar.

  9. After being spoiled by Kitty on CachyOS I dug a bit deeper today into Windows Terminals.

    WebGPU and Harfbuzz support on Wezterm is goated.

  10. Ya ha empezado el #ViernesdeEscritorio (al menos aquí en Austria). En esta ocasión he cambiado el fondo de escritorio y la fuente de la terminal (ahora utilizo Monaspace Argon Frozen ExtraBold).
    #VoidLinux #Plasma #WezTerm #Starship #ZSH #Catppuccin #CatppuccinMocha

  12. Hey, look who’s back!

    First, #VoidLinux updated without a hitch, despite being dormant for almost a year (really?! Wow!). But I didn’t – I’d completely forgotten my sway and foot shortcuts, so I installed #KDEPlasma instead (`kde-plasma` and `kde-baseapps`). It’s graphical, I know it, I like it. Then I installed `pulseaudio` to fix the sound. Enabled SDDM. And #WezTerm, why not.

    #NotFullyLiveVoidPosting

  13. Just a FYI: If you use Fedora and using Wezterm, the latest version of wezterm from COPR is an empty package due to some buggy spec change; you have to install wezterm-gui and wezterm-mux-server to make it actually installed

    there is already an issue created here that you can follow:

  14. Mulla hajosi Matrixissa Signal siltayhteys. En voinut itse korjata. Ilm.

    EDIT. Ongelma korjattu! Nyt toimii Matrixissa Signal taas. Päivitykset olvat jääneet ajamatta.

  19. Figured out how to use colors from a custom color scheme as variables in your #WezTerm config. First, load them in:

    ```
    local var_colors = wezterm.color.load_scheme(
    wezterm.home_dir .. "/.config/wezterm/colors/" .. var_scheme .. ".toml"
    )
    ```

    The `var_scheme` variable depends on the light/dark mode and also reusable in `config.color_scheme = var_scheme`.

    I don’t know why a simple way, like in `config.color_scheme` doesn’t work and you need a path to the same file. 🤷

  20. Updated my phone with a VPN because it wasn’t connecting otherwise.

    Updated #Flatpak with a local server because who needs mirrors!

    Fixed the Flatpak version of #WezTerm by running the #AppImage once because Flatpak.

    I “love” technology. :blobcatknife:

    (The actual thanks go to #TorVPN, #Python, and AppImages.)

  21. “Oh, I see you bought yourself a gaming device. What have you been playing?”
    “You know, #WezTerm, #Nushell…”

    Maybe it’s just me, but the whole “#Linux on everything” is getting out of hand. I mean, nobody forced me to do it. But they didn’t prevent it, either. So, I blame them.

  22. Quick update to my WezTerm config:

    • Now draws an unmissable deep-pink border around the active window if the active session is a remote one via SSH so you can easily tell when you’re on your own machine and when you’re not.

    Pushing my luck here, but it looks to turn out as a great day.

  24. Just shared my WezTerm¹ configuration. It’s not very long and mostly just adds a few keyboard shortcuts that I find more ergonomically-pleasing, specifies light/dark themes and improves colour scheme consistency and also, if you use Helix Editor², automatically implements light/dark mode theme changes for it in line with the rest of the terminal.

  25. I just found the best fuzzy tab switcher for #kittyterm :) maybe I will test those waters again, I am happy with #wezterm, but there has not been a lot of development lately #fzf github.com/OsiPog/kitty-tab-sw

  26. codeberg.org/alsorew/aquamarine

    It’s been a while since I updated #AquamarineCS. Now with #WezTerm#foot!

    And #LightMode. I can’t say I like it that much, but I set my laptop to light mode months ago, to be among the cursed daywalkers, and haven’t had any problems. Well, besides that every other terminal app hates light mode, but that’s not *my* fault.

    If anything is broken because *of me*, feel free to yell. I don’t use all of those apps all the time, so knowing what’s broken would actually help.

  27. The more and more I learn, the more and more I go back to the more simple, easy, and straightforward. The shell isn't the same as it was 15 years ago. It has kept up, and I think is still the better option than IntelliJ and VSCode. It takes some configuration and setup, but it's free, it's fast, it's secure, and it just works. #homelab #programming #neovim #lazyvim #wezterm #terminal #commandline #macos #terraform #opentofu

  28. OOF. My fancy Catpuccin wezterm theme + pre-commit makes for one :blobsad: partially blind guy. Time to revert my wezterm config unless I can figure a work-around!

    #catpuccin #wezterm #precommit

  29. Do you know the saying, “Don’t tug on a string or an abyss will unravel you”? What do you mean, that’s incorrect? Whatever.

    I saw that #WezTerm can detect the #DarkMode/#LightMode, so I decided that I want to have a #DarkTheme and a #LightTheme too. And I made my own. Of course, I made my own! No, I don’t like it. Maybe never will.

  30. Woo! Grateful for the #Fedora #COPR repos! I know installing things from third party repos willy nilly is a bad idea, but I was having trouble figuring out how to install the #wezterm I'd build from source (You can't really set cargo run --bin wezterm as your default Terminal Emulator!) and I was happy to see that I could just dnf install it with desktop integration and all the bells and whistles in place.

  36. Thank you #wsl2 team at #msft

    Today I discovered that you folks have been working hard on #wslg - I can now run graphical apps from #wezterm and everything works like a treat!

  37. @wimpy I really get it WRT tmux BTW!

    I made the leap a year or so ago and have been mostly liking it. The key thing it brought me that's priceless is a single, uniform, 100% consistent muscle memory interface for maintaining and switching tabs/panes.

    However since I moved to #wezterm which I just adore and which is totally cross platform (Even works like a champion under #windows365
    and makes an outstanding #WSL host!)

    I'm wondering if I can achieve the same effect without much of the faff.

    pueue sounds great for a whole variety of tasks. I will definitely check it out! I currently use tmux and/or screen for running docker compose up and the like and being able to observe the output.

  38. Finally found someone that officially maintains their own Fedora/EPEL releases in a Copr repo and even recommends installing from there \o/

Zweiter Auftritt in zwei Ausgaben: #wezterm. Es wird übrigens langsam kühler. #Techno habe ich auch wieder gehört.
