Alongside the Fedora 44 release, I’m happy to announce that we have sealed bootable container images ready for testing for the Fedora Atomic Desktops!
Sealed bootable container images include all the components needed to create a fully verified boot chain, from the firmware to the operating system composefs image. This relies on Secure Boot on UEFI systems.
More details at https://fedoramagazine.org/sealed-atomic-desktops-test-images/ and https://github.com/travier/fedora-atomic-desktops-sealed

Fedora's elections are now open until Wednesday, 7th January!
I'm applying for a seat at FESCo [1] as I want to represent the interests of users, developers and maintainers of what we call Atomic, Bootable Container, Image Based or Immutable variants of Fedora (CoreOS, Atomic Desktops, IoT, bootc, etc.).
You can find my full interview at https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/f43-fesco-elections-siosm/
And vote at https://elections.fedoraproject.org/

How to choose the perfect #Linux #Distro for you
This guide may be a bit different from what you know. Linux offers a ton of choice, and there are some factors you might want to think of, rather than using #DistroWatch or #DistroChooser for a half-baked recommendation.
Dont hesitate to try them out! But for a longer investment, make a good decision!

Amazing! The #Fedora #COPR is one way to try it, even on #AtomicDesktops like #uBlue
Some things that come to my mind:
- adjustable size
- padding to left/right so it doesnt take up all the screen
- nice show/hide functionality with a button, swiping, dynamically
- functional keys (Ctrl, Alt, Super, Arrows, Fn keys, ...) -

I restored Discover to my Bazzite install using a Systemd-Sysext. Essentially a sub disk image that is loaded during boot of the immutable system, that way you dont have to layer all the plasma components this would usually require!
Neat! No shade to the #bazaar devs
If people want instructions I guess I can write something up over the weekend

I don't understand the excitement for #bazaar the new #flatpak frontend created for #bazzite and #UniversalBlue.
It doesn't seem to do anything better than #kdediscover and looks extremely out of place on #plasma.
I'm kind of confused

What would it take for the Atomic Desktops to be the default option in Fedora?
I tried to answer that question in my talk at this year's Flock to Fedora conference.
You can watch the recording (from the livestream) at: https://www.youtube.com/live/LvkFho1l238?t=7391s
Get the slides at: https://cfp.fedoraproject.org/flock-to-fedora-2025/talk/8HKWCC/#Fedora #AtomicDesktops #UniversalBlue #Bazzite #Bluefin #Aurora

I've completely reworked how I build the sysexts for Fedora Atomic Desktops, Fedora CoreOS and other image based Fedora systems.
We now have a pretty website listing them: https://extensions.fcos.fr
This is still an unofficial/experimental project but it has been working well for me for a while now.
Next step: writing a manager for all those sysexts to make installing/removing and updating them easier.
