  3. If @system76 ‘s #cosmicde can be themed, why am I not finding a #BlueCurve theme for it? What is wrong with the world?!

  4. I just noticed that #CosmicDE screenshots now save to a screenshots directory in the pictures directory rather than just in pictures.

A small but good change. I like it as it keeps the directory clean.

  5. @slubman My #System76 support person thinks #CosmicDE will have #RDP support by summer. But no beta yet...

  7. Cosmic DE 1.0.5 has landed in the AerynOS volatile repository.

  8. @system76 was able to do what Canonical tried and didn't make it: create a brand new desktop.

If I were people in @ubuntu I would seriously think about adopting #CosmicDE and join forces with them.

They would get rid of the RedHat influence on Gnome and innovate much more on the desktop space, which they haven't put much effort in the last few years.

  12. @system76 @manjarolinux

I see new users mostly trying these distros
    1. Ubuntu/PopOS/Mint
    2. Manajaro
    3. Fedora

Although I haven't seen any of the #microsoft_recall refugees try Fedora yet. I've seen newcomers try it in the past.

If @fedora hadn't messed up codecs installation it would've been by far the best experience for newcomers. There should be a toggle during install that adds rpm fusion and installs ffmpg-full from there ASAP

  18. Eager to Try Pop!_OS 22.10? Well, You Can’t…

Don’t hate me but I’ve some bad (if not entirely unsurprising) news for the Pop!_OS fans who plan to pounce on the presumed-to-be upcoming 22.10 release: you can’t. Before anyone groan: no, I’m not about to deliver a trite “…cOz vAnILLa ‘bUnTu is beTtEr” punchline. Sadly, Pop!_OS 22.10 is not going to be released this autumn — heck, it’s not even in development. System76’s software engineers want to take the time and effort prepping the next release would take and instead plough it in constructing their home-grown, Rust-based COSMIC desktop environment. System76’s Micheal Murphy confirmed the news in a Reddit :sys_more_orange:

  19. And awaaayyy we go! #5Ghoul is a collection of 14 vulnerabilities that affect #5G modems from a small collection of vendors, which also affect 714 phone models from a dozen manufacturers. We're looking at #DoS attacks and #Downgrade attacks against cell networks and devices running the at-risk #firmware. If properly exploited, I see a cascading effect of failure for personal phones and IoT devices alike, and cell tower modems, resulting in a complete breakdown of #CriticalInfrastructure. Talk about potential for #MassChaos.

Remember, most countries on our planet rely heavily on cellular networks rather than landlines anymore for pretty much everything, including emergency alert systems and OTA data transmission.

I recommend you #CheckForUodates regularly on your phones and tablets to ensure you can be as protected as possible from this, and the millions of other threats, that are circulating out there.
