This '98 Beaucastel (from 2 bottles; this the better) is mature, but vibrant. Also, gamey, with nuances that make the nose off-putting.That's not the end of the story. A bright & lively finish make up for a lot. Flavors of aged beef & dried strawberry will not be everyone's favorite,but it was never the fruitiest CdP--now add age. It does come into far better harmony with air, drinking very well at last, showing off structure. Maybe a bit past peak still nice

Close to the Metal, an album I made 8(!) years ago, features covers/remixes of all the #NES games I could find that had "Metal" in their name. I was reminded of it recently and, to be honest, I think it kind of kicks ass.

Finally browsed through the preview for the Break! RPG we've been waiting for for so long. It's going to be a beautiful, usable book with everything you need to run a bright fantasy campaign in a video gamey style.
It has more crunch than I care for, but I think it's the right amount of character building blocks for most 5E people who want fewer books in their lives and/or freedom from the Hasbeen Bros.

Italic Pica No. 31 typeface, tabulator, carriage shift, 88 charactersAcquired via thrift on April 10, 2026. It finally fills my itch to have an italic typeface for use in personal correspondence. It’s in spectacular starting condition though a bit gamey, but this should clean up nicely. It immediately needed a bit of forming on the carriage lock and a new ribbon, but it’s generally ready to be in the regular rotation.

May 31, 2016Excerpt: "Eddy Leroux, who was Wong’s first client and co-author of her book, #ForagedFlavor. 'First, I just bit into it straight,' Oliveira says, 'and I fell in love with the taste.' To her, it’s like rhubarb, but 'more earthy. It tastes like rain.' Knotweed is the 'gamey' version of rhubarb, she says, so she combines both in her desserts, letting the knotweed enhance the flavor of the rhubarb.
"The two meld in a hibiscus-tinted compote, a jam at the center of a rolled almond cake, and a rosy quenelle of ice cream. You wouldn’t know the difference from a very good rhubarb dessert were it not for the little rings of confit knotweed, still crunchy, resting atop the center mound of riesling sabayon.
"Another one of Wong’s clients, chef Amanda Cohen, takes an entirely different approach to the sour weed. Though she’s put onion in a chocolate tart and turned lettuce into sorbet at her innovative vegetarian restaurant Dirt Candy, she prefers to keep knotweed on the savory side of her kitchen. 'Rhubarb has sweetness to it, knotweed doesn’t,' she says, 'It’s just sour on sour.' So she pickles it in a simple mixture of water, vinegar, and salt, and scatters the tiny ring-shaped slivers over her 'forager’s salad.' They add a sour zip to the tangle of other wild plants and flowers Wong supplies each week, which Cohen arranges with very little other adornment over cubes of soft, pungent cheese.
"That versatility is part of knotweed’s appeal. Matt Louis, the chef and owner of Moxy in #PortsmouthNH, says that in the three years he’s had knotweed on the menu, he’s often made pickles or chutney to go with meat or fish, but one of his favorite uses is in pie. He swaps it for rhubarb in strawberry-rhubarb pie, explaining: “Whenever I’m using anything like knotweed or other lesser-known foraged items, I want to put them in dishes that people can relate to. That pie is something people can embrace.' "

- #Pathfinder1e "Curse of the Crimson Throne" remotely for my former players. Not the biggest fan of the system or Paizo's adventure construction, but the setting is fun.
- #TheDarkEye 5E campaign where the PCs currently are on a mission to save a Viking princess from a curse, but get distracted constantly.
- #TheDarkEye (using the #ilaris ruleset) retro campaign where we started out playing the baddies (they're just politically persecuted and misunderstood) from an ancient bad adventure and generally wreck the world by assuming every adventure the PCs aren't participating in fails for the "good guy".

- Some Inception-like sleeper agent game. Cool story, just hope it doesn't get more railroady. GM wants a story game experience but rules-wise is a bit stuck in the 90s (homebrew WoD/Feng Shui mashup)

#Downfall from #GMTgames - finished 1st campaign game. It took us about 55 hours (yeah, we are AP prone and overoptimizers). Outstanding game, but not for everyone. Sometimes it's pretty fantasy, or no good options to choose from (bad or very bad), or gamey situations, and very long. And yet it plays very smoothly, almost no downtime, and, the most important thing, it's fun! We will start another campaign this weekend, I think.

I'm contemplating a #ParagonSystem version of my queer He-Man/She-Ra game #PrincessOfTheUniverse.
It'd work like #Agon for most things, with three differences:
1) Since PotU players create both heroes and villains, villains will have their own Contests to pursue their evil schemes.
2) The Conflict system will be replaced by a gamey combat system, along the lines of CMON's #MotU or some of the wrestling games I like.
3) Villain morale will be a thing.
What do you think, sirs?
