@ryan2one3 “We’ll see,” is how I thought about things earlier in the year when
- Draisaitl abandoned playing for Selke (which he told us he’d do last Sept),
- McD focused on winning the Art Ross instead of supporting his goalies (one of whom expressed his desire to play for Canada in the Olympics),
- GM SB gave in to the goalie haters in Oilerville and traded Skinner (after telling us in the summer that goaltending isn’t the problem; he was right),
- McDrai threw their coach and team under the bus instead of taking responsibility for poor defensive effort, and
- McDrai hired a bully coach because they wouldn’t hold themselves accountable.
But this “accountability” thing is selective. So the last straw for me was the lack of accountability to fans, to the kids who look to the Oilers for leadership and inspiration, to the women of Oilerville, when GM SB and Capt. McD welcome an acquitted rapist onto the team.
“We’ll see,” I thought. And kept hoping for leadership. It’s not on this team.
