@loriemerson I read the Other Networks: Radio Transmitter book! I had some parts lying around, and will order whatever I'm missing in order to complete the circuit. I wanted to ask, though:
What would the effects of using a 22 gauge copper wire for the coil (instead of 24) be? I think the diameter difference is 0.644 mm (22 AWG) vs 0.511 mm (24 AWG).
Would that render the transmitter circuit useless, or maybe just change the frequency range I could play with?
I'm attaching a photo- the lower components are exact matches (100/103 capacitors et al), the right-hand side is an old coil I bought for some other RF-radio-ish circuit, the top contains similar parts, and my 22 AWG wire.

Successful #Music experiment: UA's circuit-modeled B3 plugin sounds great, but was fiddly with mouse controls. So I hooked up a crappy sustain pedal and an even crappier volume pedal to the Osmose, then fiddled with midi settings so sustain controlled the Leslie speed and volume controlled the swell pedal. Plainly I need a better volume pedal, and the O isn't a waterfall keyboard, but it's still fun. Irony: organ's my best instrument and I haven't had one for years.

Here is a thing I've never heard #EV people talk about: extension cords. Possibly this is because it is a fraught topic. When I was buying the NACS->CCS adapter for my #Audi #etron from A2Z I also purchased a 12' J-1772 extension cord. It wasn't cheap, about $200. However, it already is making things better.
We stayed at an airbnb in Charlotte NC and one of the selling points was a charger at the house. It had a crazy long cord, probably 20' and it meant you could reach almost the entire driveway. I have a Wallbox charger with a 12' cord but the unit sits on the wall well into the garage. The break box is on the other side of that wall and so running the 240V 40A circuit was trivial. The downside is that to charge I had to nose in close to my garage. Every so often I pulled in just short and had to move the car another foot forward to make it reach.
With this extension cord, I can back in like I do when I'm not charging and reach all the way out. My etron has a J-1772 on the right side so I can Level 2 charge either side. I can park without considering whether I need to charge or not and decide later.
The other big consideration is out in the world. It is extra work to roll it up and put the cord back in my trunk every time but I do it. One day I will want to charge at one of the free chargers they have at the library or parking lots in my small city and the spot will be ICEd. If I can get a spot within a few spaces, I'll hook up my extension cord and charge that SOB anyway! I'm honestly kind of looking forward to that happening, just for the lulz..

Bathurst is on today! That is Australian shorthand for saying that a 1000km street car race around the circuit of Mount Panorama at Bathurst in New South Wales, Australia.
What we have learned so far...
1. The Australian Air Force has a fleet of hot air balloons - Google it, I am not joking!
2. Australian wildlife is out early on track. We saw an official gently use a broom to nudge an echidna off the track
3. One of the cars has got really bad vibrations. Yesterday the driver was complaining about double vision caused by it. The team has given up on fixing it. Those drivers are going to have a tough day at the office today!
4. One of the drivers has a sore neck. Maybe a gentle drive in the country will help

Since the publication of Feynman's "simulation" paper in 1982, researchers in physics, EE, CS, and maths had been trying to build practical #quantum #computers (QC). They had come a long way, over the past four decades. In recent years, random circuit sampling, boson sampling, and several other experiments have demonstrated QC’s supremacy over classical digital computers (DC).
But neither the QC theory nor the technology is practicable, at present. Sure, the Toffoli CCNOT linear, unitary, reversible gate is equivalent to the DC universal NAND gate, so QC can theoretically simulate any DC, including probabilistic ones. But "can" is not "do". The best known hardest quantum algorithm, Shore's 1994 prime factoring, solves an NP problem of DC. In 2026, a QC factored 551. Incidentally, ChatGPT factored it in a blink (cheap shot). And, to date, there is no known efficient quantum algorithm for an NP-complete problem. The general consensus is that QC is just as much subject to that "gut-feel” speed-limit of DC: \(P \neq NP\).
Forty years is an eternity in computing: compare a cheap 2025 gaming laptop to the top-end 1985 SGI IRIS 2000 3D graphics workstation; compare the 1985 CRAY-2 supercomputer to von Neumann’s 1945 paper on the bus-architecture. Goodness me, is DC actually "faster" than QC? Still, QC has proven, demonstrated supremacy over DC, in some narrow, but significant, areas; QC must be studied.
At present, though, #profiteering quantum startups are trading a few buzzwords for a mound of cash, using #WallStreet's proprietary, alchemical process for creating the element \(Au\): heat an admixture of #QC and #AI buzzwords over the hot coals of social media—voilà!

The rollback was widely seen as a major setback to US efforts to combat the #ClimateCrisis.
"The suit was brought by the American Public Health Association [#APHA], #AmericanLungAssociation, the #CenterForBiologicalDiversity, the #EnvironmentalDefenseFund, the #NaturalResourcesDefenseCouncil [#NRDC], the #SierraClub and 11 other public health and environmental organizations.
