"Anti-Fascism Scholar Flees U.S. Fearing for His Family’s Safety Amid Trump’s 'Antifa' Fear Mongering
We speak with Rutgers University professor Mark Bray, who fled from the U.S. to Spain with his family after receiving death threats over his scholarship. He is the author of the 2017 book Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook, which explores the history and tactics of anti-fascist movements in Europe, the United States and beyond. Turning Point USA, the conservative campus group founded by Charlie Kirk, had called for Bray’s firing and branded him 'Dr. Antifa.' This comes as the Trump administration has dramatically escalated its war on dissent following Kirk’s assassination, using his death as pretext to launch an assault on activists, organizations and speech it disagrees with.
'What we’re seeing today in the U.S. is increasingly fascist. MAGA, I believe — and I study fascism, I don’t say this lightly — is a fascist movement,' says Bray, referring to Trump’s political movement.
President Trump signed an executive order designating antifa as a terrorist organization, but Bray stresses there is no such organization; anti-fascism is a loose political movement or ideology akin to feminism, but Trump is using the label to 'demonize resistance' to his policies."

"The struggles driven by anti-fascism in the 'best' of cases reinforce the widespread illusion that the State is an arbiter above the classes, which is usually accompanied by seeing capital not as a social relation but as a group of multinationals or cruel and greedy men. And in the 'worst' of cases it leads to anti-fascist unity. Yesterday and today for orderly elections, to maintain capitalist normality. Yesterday and today to go to war or to accept 'states of emergency' in the name of democracy."

What probably will happen:
If the #Parliament and the #Senate
were to get a anti-fascist majority
and #Trump were to be #impeachedTrump will carry out a Institutional 'coup'
first by arresting a good number of Democrat Representatives and Senators
then changing the institutional rules
by abolish the Parliament and the Senate. All things that already happened repeatedly
in dictatorships and fascist Governament. -
Seven of the anti-fascists in hiding since the ‘Day of Honour’ events in Budapest have turned themselves in to German authorities, reported ABC Dresden on 20 January. The unnamed activists are accused of dangerous bodily harm and membership of a criminal organisation following attacks on German, Polish and Hungarian neo-Nazis at the far-right convergence in February 2023.
It is understood that several of them are also accused of attempted murder. Gino, another anti-fascist wanted in the case, was recently arrested in France and is currently battling his extradition to Hungary.
Meanwhile, supporters reported that Maja T., a non-binary activist also accused in the case, is being offered 14 years in prison in return for a confession. Extradited to Hungary in what supporters described as a ‘night and fog’ operation, they could otherwise face up to 20 years at trial.

"US anti-fascism expert blocked from flying to Spain at airport
Rutgers University professor who published book on antifa was informed at boarding gate that his trip was cancelled
(. . .)
A Rutgers University professor who taught a course on anti-fascism was blocked from leaving the US for Spain on Wednesday night, according to media reports, hours after Donald Trump hosted a White House roundtable highlighting the impact of antifa – or 'anti-fascist' – far-left activists.
Mark Bray, an historian who published the 2017 book *Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook*, and has taught courses on anti-fascism at the New Jersey university, was attempting to board a plane at Newark airport bound for Europe when he was informed at the boarding gate that the reservations for him and his family had been cancelled.
The professor, nicknamed 'Dr Antifa' by a group of students, had said he was moving to Europe after receiving death threats. Turning Point USA activists have claimed he is a 'financier' for the leftwing movement.
'‘Someone’ cancelled my family’s flight out of the country at the last second,' Bray posted on Bluesky social media. 'We got our boarding passes. We checked our bags. Went through security. Then at our gate our reservation ‘disappeared.’'
A petition calling for his removal from the university had been launched in the weeks following the assassination of the Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk and Bray’s home address was revealed on social media.
One threat included a vow to kill him in front of his students, according to the Washington Post. The threats led to Bray’s decision to relocate to Spain with his wife and two children and to continue to teach his students remotely."

From Spain to Rojava to Myanmar, the anti-fascist internationalist front continues to live and grow. Across generations and continents, people have crossed borders to stand in solidarity with those resisting dictatorship, fascism, and occupation. The same commitment that led the International Brigades to Spain in the 1930s moves through today’s struggles in Rojava and Myanmar, where communities are building freedom through mutual aid, self-organization, and collective defense.
The fight against authoritarianism is not confined by nation or language — it is a shared movement of care, resistance, and liberation. To stand with those who struggle is to recognize that our freedom is bound up with theirs.

#breaking Reports of large crowds tonight at Cal Anderson park for the anti-fascist protest.
There's evidently a significant police standoff occurring.
Unclear what happened but at cops have least two reports of overdoses in the park (unconfirmed).
For some reason the fire department is waiting for a police escort to check on the alleged patients.
The crowd is growing "hostile" towards the cops according to cop scanners and reports OTG.

"A downtown United Church cleric and a longtime city anti-fascist activist are urging the city to deny a permit for a planned concert by American Christian singer Sean Feucht, scheduled to take place next month in Winnipeg’s Central Park.
Feucht, who some have labelled a Christian nationalist, has publicly aligned himself with U.S. President Donald Trump and the Make America Great Again movement. He is known for his outspoken opposition to gender diversity, abortion rights and the LGBTQ+ community.
'The Central Park area and community often has very vulnerable people and is a very vulnerable population, so we’ve worked tirelessly to try and make this area safe for all people to come together and express their beliefs and to have a sense of community that lifts them up, rather than pulling them down,' said Rev. Lesley Harrison of Knox United Church, which is located on Edmonton Street, bordering the park where the Aug. 20 show is scheduled to take place.
Feucht has had several concerts across Eastern and Atlantic Canada cancelled in recent days, including stops in Halifax, Charlottetown, Moncton, Quebec City, Gatineau, Que., and Vaughan, Ont.
The City of Montreal, meanwhile, fined a local evangelical church $2,500 for hosting Feucht last Friday after failing to secure a permit."

"Hundreds of martyrs’ sacrifice enabled free Eid celebration in Bangladesh: Nahid Islam
Opposition Chief Whip and convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), Nahid Islam, on Friday extended Eid greetings to the country’s people, saying the opportunity to celebrate Eid in a free environment came through the sacrifices of hundreds of martyrs.
In a message issued in the evening, Nahid greeted Bangladeshi muslims at home and abroad on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, saying, 'Eid Mubarak.'
Referring to Eid-ul-Fitr as the largest religious festival of the muslims world following a month of fasting and spiritual discipline, Nahid said the festival fosters unity by bridging social divides and strengthening bonds of harmony, UNB reports.
'This festival teaches us peace, compassion and brotherhood, removing hatred and division, and bringing tranquility to our hearts,' he said.
Describing this as the second Eid-ul-Fitr in a post-fascist era, Nahid said many leaders and activists of anti-fascist political forces had been deprived of the true joy of Eid for over a decade and a half. 'We must not forget that it is through the sacrifices of hundreds of martyrs that we can celebrate Eid today in a free environment.'
He urged people to stand beside the families of those who sacrificed everything for a ‘fascism-free Bangladesh’ and to support injured activists, calling it a moral responsibility."
