This past Tuesday, antifascist activist Maja T. was sentenced by a court in Budapest to eight years in prison. The trial appears to have been largely bereft of substantive evidence, but that's Hungarian law in the present moment.

Here is my translation of Maja's statement to the court before the verdict was handed down. There's some pretty weighty stuff in here, but ultimately it is a heartfelt expression of the importance of solidarity from the outside for people serving long prison sentences for bullshit reasons.

Here's a newly translated interview with one of the lawyers working on Maja T.'s case in Budapest.

Maja is accused of attacking neo-nazis in Budapest in February 2023 during the annual Nazi cosplay party known as the "Day of Honor." After more than two years in pre-trial detention, including a year and a half in solitary confinement, the verdict in Maja's trial is expected to be handed down this Wednesday.

This is a really useful, quick update on several of the known defendants in various "Budapest Complex" cases.

If you're not familiar, these are a series of (mostly) ongoing legal cases brought against a number of defendants in a number of different countries in response to confrontations that happened during a major international neo-nazi gathering in Budapest in Feb. 2023.
