Mercredi 8 juillet, après des mois de procédure, Zaid et Gino comparaitront de nouveau devant la Cour d’Appel de Paris, qui doit décider ou non de livrer nos camarades à la Hongrie et à l’Allemagne.
Il est vital que nos camarades ne soient pas extradés et que la France garantisse leur liberté.
Ne relâchons pas la pression : soyons nombreuses & nombreux à venir soutenir Zaid et Gino lors d’un rassemblement prévu mercredi 8 juillet à 12h face au palais de Justice, place Louis Lépine, avant d’assister à leurs audiences dans l’après-midi.

This past Tuesday, antifascist activist Maja T. was sentenced by a court in Budapest to eight years in prison. The trial appears to have been largely bereft of substantive evidence, but that's Hungarian law in the present moment.
Here is my translation of Maja's statement to the court before the verdict was handed down. There's some pretty weighty stuff in here, but ultimately it is a heartfelt expression of the importance of solidarity from the outside for people serving long prison sentences for bullshit reasons.

Dezember völlig überraschend der Antifaschist Rexhino " #Gino“ Abazaj erneut festgenommen – diesmal auf Bestreben der Bundesrepublik. Nachdem der albanische Staatsbürger im November 2024 verhaftet wurde, kam er im Frühjahr ohne Auflagen frei. Die Justiz hatte eine Auslieferung an Ungarn, anders als die BRD etwa im Fall #Maja, mit Berufung auf die europäische Menschenrechtskonvention verhindert. Frankreich sah auch keinen Anlass für weitere Verfolgung und entließ Gino. Wie zahlreiche weitere AntifaschistInnen aus Deutschland, Syrien und Italien, wird Gino von Ungarn und Deutschland wegen angeblicher Angriffe auf TeilnehmerInnen einer jährlichen Nazi-Großveranstaltung inkriminiert. Im Februar 2023 kam es beim sogenannten „Tag der Ehre“ in Budapest zu Auseinandersetzungen und wenig überraschend trommelte der Staat zur rücksichtslosen Verfolgung Linker.

#Budapest-Komplex‚Die Schikanen gegen unseren Genossen Rexhino, genannt „Gino“, Abazaj gehen weiter. Wir haben soeben von seiner Festnahme und seiner erneuten Inhaftierung im Rahmen der sogenannten „Budapester Affäre“ erfahren. Er befindet sich derzeit in einer Zelle in den Räumlichkeiten der Unterdirektion für Terrorismusbekämpfung in Levallois-Perret. Morgen wird er einem Richter des Pariser Berufungsgerichts vorgeführt, der über sein weiteres Schicksal entscheiden wird.
Gino droht nun, erneut ins Gefängnis zurückgeschickt zu werden oder, schlimmer noch, nach Ungarn ausgeliefert zu werden – obwohl das Berufungsgericht im vergangenen März die Anwendung des Europäischen Haftbefehls abgelehnt hatte und er ohne Auflagen freigelassen worden war. Some good news, at least provisionally: 21-year-old antifascist Zaid A. was paroled on Friday after three months in custody in Cologne, Germany. He had been held under threat of extradition to Hungary in connection with the "Budapest Complex" cases relating to events that took place during a major international neo-Nazi gathering in Feb. 2023.
This is noteworthy in part because, while seven suspects turned themselves in to German authorities in January after spending nearly two years out of sight, the other six have not been threatened with extradition because they are all German citizens (they are nonetheless likely to be tried in Germany on behalf of the Hungarian gov't). Zaid, by contrast, is a Syrian citizen, despite having grown up in Germany.
Zaid is now on a suspended sentence (he still has to check in with the cops three times a week), and it's unclear what will happen next. He could still be extradited, or he could also be prosecuted in Germany on Hungary's behalf. In the worst case scenario, he is looking at a sentence of up to 24 years. For now, though, it sounds like he and his family are relieved, if still very cautious.

Seven of the anti-fascists in hiding since the ‘Day of Honour’ events in Budapest have turned themselves in to German authorities, reported ABC Dresden on 20 January. The unnamed activists are accused of dangerous bodily harm and membership of a criminal organisation following attacks on German, Polish and Hungarian neo-Nazis at the far-right convergence in February 2023.
It is understood that several of them are also accused of attempted murder. Gino, another anti-fascist wanted in the case, was recently arrested in France and is currently battling his extradition to Hungary.
Meanwhile, supporters reported that Maja T., a non-binary activist also accused in the case, is being offered 14 years in prison in return for a confession. Extradited to Hungary in what supporters described as a ‘night and fog’ operation, they could otherwise face up to 20 years at trial.

Some good news, at least provisionally, for Gino, the antifascist who was arrested in France a few months ago on a Hungarian warrant based on allegations of violence against Nazis in Budapest in Feb. 2023.
Gino's lawyers filed a motion against extradition to Hungary on the basis that the Hungarian courts are not in a position to give Gino a fair trial, and the French court accepted that motion. The French court has asked Hungarian officials for additional information regarding possible prison conditions as well as whether or not there would be any chance that Gino would get a trial based on actual facts, rather than on his political orientation. Hungary has 15 days to respond, and there is another hearing scheduled for February 12.
This is a hopeful development in part because it is a reminder of Gabri's case last year in Italy. Gabri was also arrested on a Hungarian warrant arising from the same events in Budapest in 2023, but an Italian court ruled that, no, he couldn't get a fair trial and wouldn't be held under humane conditions if he were extradited, so the Italian court just let him go.
It remains to be seen what will happen next for Gino, but at least for the next several weeks he won't be going to Hungary.

In the course of the "Day of Honor" Nazifest in Budapest in February 2023, the Hungarian government either arrested or subsequently issued international arrest warrants for a number of people who it says engaged in violence against the event's participants. Several of those people are currently either in custody of Órban's authoritarian state or pending extradition there.
There hasn't been a whole lot of detailed coverage of this stuff in English, so I recently interviewed a member of the Budapest Antifascist Solidarity Committee (BASC) in the hope of getting the word out a bit more widely and clarifying just what happened in Budapest and what has been going on since those events. The good people of @antidotezine were then kind enough to publish that interview today, on the one-year anniversary of Maja's arrest. Bad news: Gino has been arrested in Paris. He is one of the antifascists who the Hungarian government has been after for allegedly attacking fascists during Budapest's annual Nazi ComicCon (or "Day of Honor," as they call it) in Feb. 2023. On 12 November, Gino, an antifascist, was arrested in Paris on a European warrant. Having already eluded a court-ordered extradition from Finland by freeing himself from his ankle monitor, Gino has now been re-apprehended in France.
