⁂ Fediverse Cape — The Making of
I got an idea! I decided to make a CAPE with the Fediverse Symbol for #39C3. Edit: I added a picture (spoiler) at the beginning.
Of course I got the idea SUPER LATE, I am leaving tomorrow morning at 7:00 from Sanremo.
Here is how it happened.
13:00. We were having the Christmas lunch with the whole family at my grandma’s and I was telling my cousins how INCREDIBLE Congress is, and how people go around dressed with the most insane things.
I started brewing the idea of something to make and wear myself over the afternoon, while napping at my parents’.
17:47. I call grandma D, the most expert sewer of the family.
“NONNAAA I WANNA MAKE A CAPE! Do you have any big pieces of fabric?” “No… I only have bedsheets…”
I call Nonna Gorix, who proudly calls herself my “trovarobe” (literally “things-finder”). I ask her the same thing. She tells me to come over, and we start looking in her stuff, as you see here:

Another Wednesday update for my Typewriter B font. https://drj11.itch.io/font-typewriter-b
It now has a lower case, which completes the set of glyphs on the typewriter. I added a sneaky Fediverse Symbol ⁂ too (even though the typewriter doesn't have one)!
It's still undergoing tweaks and so on, so is still on Early Access.

Fans of the @FediverseSymbol and the wider fediverse should be pleased to note that my newly released Rainbow Rocket font (see up), not only supports the fediverse symbol, ⁂, but also has the colour palette Fedi based on the 5-node fedigram (which i think works better with darker backgrounds).

I'm all for the newer Fediverse symbol proposed by @FediverseSymbol, for the reasons they explain on https://symbol.fediverse.info/
However, note that the asterism can be formed with six leg stars (the option showcased) bit also five leg stars, depending on the font family you use.
The 6-leg version wasn't sitting well for me, and I couldn't point out why. The 5-leg version felt better. Subjective? Well, of course, but then I remembered there was.... this.

We already have a #Fediverse logo, which doesn't only look cool but also has a fairly long history and makes sense as a metaphor: :fediverse:. There's even a Unicode version of it for those who prefer: ⛤
No need to reinvent the wheel and replace it with a completely new symbol that has no OG history and no Fedi vibes. #FediverseSymbol
