  1. Swaying like the children
    Singled out for praise
The inside out on the open
    With the straightest face

As the sad-eyed woman spoke we missed our chance
The final dying joke caught in our hands
And the rugged wheel is turning another round

  2. No time to waste, only time to treasure
Creating the memories that will last forever
The sounds and the pictures that echo through time
    My love, my life
    My legacy in a rhyme

  3. You vanish over the skies
(Survival, it was destined for your name)
    I am forsaken
    Beneath the ground I lie
(Compassion, brings you here when the rain falls on mine)
Was banished from this hurtful life
    I am forlorn
All dreams have turned to strife

  4. I'm so glad that dedicated music shops are still a thing. Just yesterday, I went in totally blind and bought Opeth's The Last Will and Testament on CD, ripped it to my network and I can't get enough of listening to it.

This is what the streaming age took from you, organic discovery and actual connection to music.

  5. A weekend project of mine that actually turned out really useful for me. I have a network player hooked up to my amplifier that streams music over #DLNA, and I've been using #minidlna to great effect for a long time, but one thing was missing. A way to scrobble my listens to #last.fm.

I made a quick #Go program to watch the minidlna log for streaming requests and send that to last.fm.

It was very fun to write. Maybe it'll be useful to someone else as well?

  6. Repeating cycle of light / no light
    There's nothing in the airspace
There's no one in the airspace
Repeating cycle of love / no love

  7. Brave try, the meaning of loss
I know your smile is deadly at this point

Wherever you are, I am not

    If you didn't know
    All the moments
    When I lose myself
    I would tell the world

    I guess I should know
    The limits of the world
There are moments I find myself
    Not breathing at all

  8. We’ll make you addicted, our little bitch
We love your money much more than your pity health
With our expensive pills we control your fear
We disconnect you and tell you what to feel

  9. Snagged this banger for 70€ the other day. The HiFi Walker H2, uncompromising in the sound quality department.

    Features include:
    * Expandable storage (up to 256GB on stock firmware)
    * 192kHz/24bit DAC
    * FLAC, MP3, AAC
    * Headphone and Line outputs
    * Bluetooth (with apt-X)
    * Can function as a USB DAC
    * Great battery life

If you want an offine, portable player, and don't want to use your phone, this is a great option.

  10. Use strong copyleft licenses for your software, please. When you use permissive licenses like MIT or BSD (2 or 3 clause), you're essentially giving up the premise that free software should remain free.

The fact that silicon valley tech companies avoid using software with strong copyleft licensing is an argument for, not against them.

  11. Some girl: "I cheated on you"
    Dave: "I actively dislike you"

    * Sick guitar solo *
    * More incredibly cheesy lyrics *

  12. I can't believe this needs to be stated. Learning JavaScript should be a prerequisite for learning React.

  13. Please tell us a story of oceans and skies
Let's imagine this beautiful paradise before us rise
    Now open your eyes

    Watching this land
    Once majestic and grand
Still I can't feel the truth in my hand

I keep spreading this bad disease
And fall down on my knees
    Because I'm here to confess
    And I'm sorry goddess!
    But she's quiet today
Silent as if to say - Fly away!

  14. A poem I wrote the other day:

If my beating heart could feel
Feel all the things I need to hear
Maybe all of this could pass
Maybe all of it could disappear

If my beating heart could fathom
Fathom all of what you mean to me
Maybe then I’d begin to wonder
Wonder how to set me free

    And free I set myself
As a bird that flaps its wings
Flying high up into the sky
Waiting for a brand new day

  15. 🎵 Wisdom of Crowds - The Light

    It's hopeless here I know
    But hopeless we will go
    Into the days
The days that drop like flies
If there's one thing you should know
The last day we will go
Into the dark with nothing left inside

  16. Curse or repayment
    Truth or illusion
    (In my) noble asylum

    When dark hours linger
    The sinister silence
Is bowed into millions of tears

    The sweetness of sound
    Turns to raging thunder

A deadly serenade in the moonlight
    The bringer of pain
Like fear on a silver plate
I am frozen, betrayed by myself
    When will this end?

    youtube.com/watch?v=Mji4soVMMBo

  17. Sedated
    Turning myself in
    Complicated
    The more you hurt
    The more I love you
    Vacated
    The sickness tears my skin
    Terminated
    The more you hurt
    The more I love you

  18. Your feelings and mine are all lonely
And dawn comes, you're there lying with me
And you reach out to touch me
But I am in the twilight
Your feelings and mine are all holy but
You know, and I know it's untrue because
When day dawns, you're there lying with me
And the dawn can fly away

  20. Spent the entire day yesterday trying to find a 3m long TOSLKINK cable to hook up my deck to my PC. No store had it in stock, all they had was 1.5m or 1m and that just wasn't going to cut it.

Against all odds I found the only one left in a small store in my area, 10 minutes before closing time.

TOSLINK is supposed to work reliably up to 5-6m, so I see no issue with this cable being "too long" so there has to be another reason why shorter cables are more common...

  21. So I was watching this video by @TechConnectify on his second channel and while I was watching it suddenly all fell into place. 🤯 This is the exact reason why I always preferred analog watches! The idea that the minute hand forms a kind of a pie chart never even crossed my mind.

It saddens me that many people are unable to read an analog watch. It truly feels like a lost art.

  22. So confusing... Am I insane?
This old widow plays tricks with my brain
I can feel her pain, running through my veins
    A feeling I cannot explain

I wanna know about the fire
And every time I look at her
    I see myself somehow
In my heart a strong desire
    What's really going on?
    I wanna know!

  23. Time to welcome a new member to the family. Just got this beautiful Casio G-Shock GM-110-1A. Who says tough watches can’t be elegant?

  24. Father

I felt it on my skin
    When you hugged me
    The weight of your soul
    The duty of a father

I feel it in my bones
Even as the years go on
    The vigor of emotion
    The pride of a son

I feel the way you did
    Now that I am older
A new purpose to my days
    The spirit of a man

  25. Venom
    ---
    Sweet venom
    You sedate
    Soothing the mind

    You seep slowly
    Muting all my thought

    You set fire
    Whispering I can

    You destroy ambition
    Eviscerating hope

    Venom
    You are sweet no more

  26. I have two deep musical obsessions, tastes, call it how you like. Metal and Electronica. It pains me then that there are so many metal fans that dismiss electronica on such shallow grounds as, "electronica isn't music", "electronica isn't made with organic instruments", "you can make it with only a computer".

Do these people not realize that composition is more than playing instruments well? I don't get this.

  27. I saw your dust in the airspace
I saw the shadow fall on the runway
    I saw your mindset change
In the blink of an eye
    Mesmerized

    You will take the skies
    Leaving me stranded
    We trade our goodbyes
    You're leaving me behind
    You will find your way
And your hideout is ever changing
    From here on out

Nervous system depressant and can therefore

  29. Come closer to me
    I will help you see
    Mind my silver tongue
And let me help you child

I know you can't do anything
    Without your conscience knowing
    But your world
    It's slipping through your hands

    I have all the answers
Don't waste your time on prayers
No one will know you as I do

  30. I had a futile dream
    It rose from loving you
But the debt has broken my back
    There's no need to retaliate
As your train has left our track

  31. We share the same polluted veins
    Blood and hurricanes
Put a bullet to our brains
Is this all we’re heading for
    Collapsing on the floor
    I was hoping for more

  32. I wanted to grow older
    I wanted to breathe in
Let the world fall off my shoulders
    Gravity pull on my skin
    But everything is red now
And they buried me in sin
And I bet they think I'm dead now
But I'm not ready to give in

  33. 🎶 Agnes Obel - Dorian

As the devil spoke we spilled out on the floor
And the pieces broke and the people wanted more
And the rugged wheel is turning another round

    Dorian, carry on
Will you come along to the end
Will you ever let us carry on

  34. 🎶 Daft Punk feat. Julian Casablancas - Instant Crush

And we will never be alone again
'Cause it doesn't happen every day
Kinda counted on you being a friend
Can I give it up or give it away?
Now I thought about what I wanna say
But I never really know where to go
So I chained myself to a friend
'Cause I know it unlocks like a door

  35. Oh man! I waited so long for this album. Loving every second. It’s been on repeat all day. This band can really do no wrong in my book!

Such a sweet blend of wonderfully melancholic tunes, at times heavy at times mellow.

I can’t wait to see them live in Budapest in about 11 days!

  36. Woah, compact cassettes (even type I) made from a quality digital source sound amazing. This is not how I remember them. I remember terrible radio recordings from back in the day.

I took a CD and made a recording of it. And yes, it’s not transparent I can clearly tell the sound quality is worse, but not by much. Amazing.

  37. Apparently, a period of a million years is called a "megaannum".

    It's Latin:
Mega -> Million (Also the SI prefix that denotes 10^6)
Ann (Annum, 2nd Genitive, plural) -> Year (Years)

I guess you learn something every day.
