Had this one back in the day and totally forgot how flat the music on the album was. I guess they had to compress the life out of it to squeeze 22 Original Hits - Original Stars onto a single LP.
A bit scratchy, clicky, and poppy. #RiceKrispies but given its age, fun. Also a good test for the refreshed #turntable

Spent the day running errands, but managed to squirrel a little time at the charity shop browsing the records. Almost walked out with a Gaby Haas and the Chuck wagon Gang as it has local caché, but passed as I don't really enjoy accordion music.
Did pick up this classic though. Mono 1962 release of The Ventures play Telstar, The Lonely Bull. It needs a bit of a clean so it'll be a while before I play it, so queuing it up on the web will have to do for now.

AOR, Soft RockI forgot how punchy this album is off the top -- the title cut rocks! One of my record fair re-acquisitions.
On then to the 3rd cut - Heaven Can Wait -- yes, a good cover of the Meat Loaf tune from Bat Out of Hell. Makes sense, as Karla was on the album tour. And she appeared in the Paradise by the Dashboard Light video (but lip-synched to Ellen Foley's original album vocals).
But wait, there's more... my favorite cut is Bloody Bess -- penned by DeVito -- and perhaps a nod to her time on Broadway as Mabel, the female lead in The Pirates of Penzance (my favorite G&S). A rollicking pirate-themed tune that could have been the basis for a rock opera?
Yeah, it's an entertaining album, especially when you have all the background.

It's more dynamic than I remember; could barely make out the opening of _Spanish Train_ as my room is a tad bit 'noisy.'
Will have to give it a relisten with headphones. A personal favourite that I've missed having on vinyl.

Interesting morning at the Edmonton Record Fair. Helped a friend set up his table and then browsed the other dealers. Found a few from my wishlist, and others that were too good to pass up.
Most interesting find is this Russian 33 1/3 recording of the entire Yuri Gagarin spaceflight.

FranceAh, one of my personal favourites. Got this one at the old Student Union Records store in HUB mall, University of Alberta campus. Things you find in the imports section. $12.95 new :)
Released just nine months after her debut, Lionheart showcases Kate Bush's distinctive mix of art rock and pop. Though it didn't achieve the same level of success as The Kick Inside, it solidified her reputation as a singular talent. Bush herself later expressed dissatisfaction with the rushed production, but tracks like "Wow" still resonate with her ethereal style.
