Did you know you can grow cassava in a sack bag right at home?
You don't need a large farm to enjoy fresh cassava. With a sack bag, good soil, and proper care, you can grow healthy cassava even in a small backyard or limited space.
Start where you are, use what you have, and let your harvest inspire others.

Here is a video taken by one of our team members two days ago as he went down to inspect the well.
He passed the section where bricks had been lined to help prevent the well from collapsing and improving safety.

Hello Farm with me should I apply supergro with other top dressers like CAN and UREA? ~farmer
Answer. Soil fertility Determines .
Soil has its own natural nutrients and when it has completely depleted fertility ,supplementation is needed in order to boost yields hence the need for both CAN or Urea with Supergro .if the fertility is okey supergro works alone for efficient nutrient utilisation

Waiting for my concrete to cure on the south side. Meanwhile I can prepare the next.
Gotta get rid of these two stumps and the roots stretching towards the house and under the extension there.
You might think this is easy with an excavator and maybe with a 30 ton one it is. But with our 1 ton machine it takes time. It can only break smaller roots, big ones had to be sawn. Then dig all around and finally underneath to cut the roots going straight down.
Even when the stump wiggles around a lot it is still held firmly by those. Finally the first came out, I filled the hole and tackled the second.
My poor chainsaw needs a deep clean and sharpen now. Won't bother smoothing the terrain here as I will just dump the foundation dig on it soon.

Hmm, could use some kind of dumper right about now 😅
Also some new wheels and tyres for this thing. Those are really hard to find (at a non-ridiculous price, that is).
Anyone got some Simson moped wheels laying around they don't need?

Finished digging the compost over today. Got another big tub of sifted compost for the rest of the garden that is still to be planted (its just getting warm enough for those plants).
Also under and next to the compost pile, two weird concrete Tetris pieces, a big pile of fly ash bricks and this piece of rather nice and hardly rusty 100mm steel box section 🤩
And a lot of hand picking pieces of rope, foil, wire, a swing arm from some vehicle, rubber hoses/belts and all kinds of uncompostable junk someone had left in there.

For the last month, in between other jobs, I've been slowly preparing some ground.
Hauled material around with a improvised dump trailer (awkward, but I made do), leveled the area, brought in two long concrete pylons and pushed them into position.
Now they just need to be leveled and bedded.

Out of dirt error.
I know where to get some, but now it's raining and mud sucks, so I'm organizing the sewing box instead.

Beam #2 lifted out well enough, but then I had to flip it and slide it over some thick old log so I could reach it with the tractor.
Each beam then needed me to push the tail end around the corner so it would go through the back gate without mowing the post down.
The yard is an absolute mess now, I've patched it a bit with the rake and will compact it down when this is done. Grass always grows back anyways.
Was hoping to get a matching pair of these giant beams and look, I even got a triplet (one came from the main garden cleanup last year). That'll be useful soon.

Next job: Removing the concrete pylons that formed a foundation for a greenhouse that must've collapsed some time ago.
We want our kitchen garden in that area (the soil is great), but a bit further from the big spruce as its roots compete with anything we tried to grow there last year.
The huge concrete beam is a little on the heavy side for my machines. You can see the excavator at tipping point there, but just about lifting it and I did wheelies on the tractor but managed to drag it out the back gate with some tricks.
One more to go.

Pre-jungle season is running out soon. Time to tackle goat pen #3.
Difficult access, the former outdoor service pit was in front of it, which is now just a ditch. I scooped up some dirt and built a causeway, then got rid of the ingrown fence and creeper roots.
Now I can drive the mower into there and keep it from overgrowing again.
The thorny fuckers inside got chipped into the hole and the non-thorny shrubbery got chipped onto the new causeway.
Treasure so far: The usual bunch of steel, a large concrete chunk and enough scrap wood for a few sauna sessions. Some of it even already dry.

Hello #fediverse !
Ansonsten bitte boosten.

Finally, the last potatoes are dug.
The no-dig experiment was in these last rows. Verdict: Meh. It's about the same work to harvest and same yield. More weeds, but that may have been the extremely wet weather.
It's not less work to plant, but the work is less hard (throwing mulch instead of digging soil). But since we have the Iseki rotavator, that hardly matters (to us).
Now just some easier work, like sorting them and spreading to dry in the barn and then sorting again and storing.

Enough for today. There's still about as much to dig out before its done.
Absolutely knackered and got a blister on my thumb. Next year I'm welding at least a basic potato digger for the tractor and make rows as wide as the wheels.

When you're sweaty and tired from potato digging by hand and you've got the excavator out anyways...
It worked, of course, but I'd need an assistant to pick up the potatoes. Hopping on and off all the time is very inefficient.
Also easy to miss a few when you have such a big shovel of dirt.
Much less sweaty though 🤔

Soft RockDangers of hosting a multi-family garage sale—you pick up stuff 😅
Had this one back in the day and totally forgot how flat the music on the album was. I guess they had to compress the life out of it to squeeze 22 Original Hits - Original Stars onto a single LP.
A bit scratchy, clicky, and poppy. #RiceKrispies but given its age, fun. Also a good test for the refreshed #turntable
