While a #Supermoon occurs when the full moon is closest to Earth and appears larger, a blood moon is a total lunar eclipse that turns it red, a blue moon is an extra full moon in a month or season, and a harvest moon is the full moon closest to the autumn equinox.

Humans have been observing and recording celestial events for thousands of years, with lunar eclipses holding a special fascination for us. This total eclipse was designated a ‘blood moon’ due to the reddish hue cast from Earth’s shadow and atmosphere. Overcast Brooklyn skies last night for the first full moon and supermoon of the year. Luna’s details were veiled, but she still shone through.
The Wolf Moon of January is also known by other Indigenous American names such as the Great Spirits Moon (Anishnaabe), the Whirling Wind Moon (Passamaquoddy), the Moon of the Strong Cold (Cheyenne), and the Stay Inside Moon (Kalapuya). That last one is good advice.

It is a fairly spectacular moon out there tonight and for once ‘Supermoon’ isn’t an exaggeration. At a push I think I could read by it.
